 No.26594

hey /civ/ i've snuk my way into the ruins of titan

im thinking about rebuilding it anyone else want to?

 No.26595

Personally, I think it should be torn down along with the rest of the abandoned sections of Chanada.

 No.26596

1. It's easy to get into Titan

2. Don't rebuild it. Why would you do that if things are reinforced.

3. It's useless now besides its' factories

 No.26602

>>26594

Define rebuild. If you mean rebuild what's already there, that's kind of a waste. If you mean repopulate the city, that's a different story. The word on the street is that a fair number of FAGT folk want to see it come back, from what I hear, but a lot of higher ups in Chanada don't think we should bother, which I can understand.

Stop trying to repopulate old towns, it makes newfags feel like fodder rather than people.

Reinforce and protect what you want to protect, like the infrastructure and some buildings, then give people free reign over designated buildings, provided that they destroy the entire building in a clean fashion.

If everyone would stop being so sentimental over dead towns we wouldn't have so many of them.

>using Penn Jillette

>talking about destroying entire towns because "dead towns are worthless"

>giving opinions on newfriends

I can't tell whether this is satire about me or whether you actually think this.

 No.26607

>>26603

I think that repopulating dead towns rather than making a new town for the same board is counter productive. We should attempt to focus on repopulating if it is possible, rather than leaving a string of dead towns that nobody has the time or energy to clean up. Having an organic process of resettling with newfriends who will tear down buildings as needed and slowly build a new city is preferable than the extreme solution of "bulldoze the whole thing and then make a whole new town somewhere".

Beamish: the cowguypig of Chanada.

>>26595

i don't really know any inhabited sections of chanada

i spawned near mount olympus and some chump gave me a free house there because i was a *newfriend* as they would say

i haven't really journeyed into chanada that much because i was satisfied with olympus

if you tell me a living section of your confederacy with a free house like olympus ill join into chanada

but if not I'm staying in olympus

 No.26614

if rebuilding and repopulating the place will make the higher ups mad or annoyed

ill stay away

but if the faggots outweigh the power of the higher ups i might give thought into reviving titan

i could use the resources

i died trying to get here last time and i lost all the previous things i had to rebuild it

Shiggy

I said "don't try and repopulate" either leave it alone or keep the important/sentimental parts and use anything that isn't important to create a new city.

>Having an organic process of resettling with newfriends who will tear down buildings as needed

Because nothing says welcome to the server more than "We fucked up here, break down every block 25 times and you can have a home!"

A Town cannot be brought back from the dead just as a living thing cannot retain its soul, something else could take over the shell, or the lifeblood of the town could start over again somewhere else, but you do not get entire cities being built, dying and then coming back to life in the exact same form, not for very long anyway.

 No.26626

>>26614

>higher ups

Well, you could make a convincing point about it. You could also talk to Shady and Draziw, who are both still on the subreddit, but not usually ingame, their say in Titan outweighs what other people in Chanada think since they own it.

You could also just do shit and hope that it doesn't blow up badly enough for you to get blamed. :^)

>>26624

>A Town cannot be brought back from the dead just as a living thing cannot retain its soul, something else could take over the shell, or the lifeblood of the town could start over again somewhere else, but you do not get entire cities being built, dying and then coming back to life in the exact same form, not for very long anyway.

That's a load of crap. A town isn't a living being like a single organism, it is a highly complex network. The town itself is just the infrastructure for this network of individuals. Any town is just the infrastructure that survives when the 'soul', or original populace leaves. But that doesn't mean you can't bring it right back by bringing in a new populace.

>but you do not get entire cities being built, dying and then coming back to life in the exact same form, not for very long anyway.

>he doesn't know about Mt. Augusta

>he doesn't realize that the largest city on the server WAS a dead town that a few random people revived

>not realizing that in order to bring it back, you have to live there and build a new community, not sit around with your chucklefuck pals and occasionally give a shit about it

A leader must live in his community, so his people know him. And thus the community is built around him. All it would take to bring back Titan are a few threads on /b/, some diamond picks, some stacks of bread, one or two dedicated people wanting to rebuild, and ten or twenty newfags.

So you're saying Mt Augusta which was revived in a different form, and Titan which will be revived in a different form, disproves my argument that you cannot revive a town in the same form.

>>26627

>exact same form

What is the 'form' of a city anyways? That's such a bullshit term, because the 'form' of a city is always changing. Saying that a city can't be revived in the same form is to say nothing at all, because the 'form' of a city changes minute to minute, day to day. So technically speaking, any revival at all is in the same 'form' as the original because it's alive, as opposed to temporarily dead.

Also, rare pepe coming through.

 No.26629

>>26628

a similar peoples, in a similar place, with similar values and cultural identity.

 No.26630

>>26629

If anything, reviving cities without the same values should be a PRIORITY, because if their values were that good to begin with, they wouldn't have allowed themselves to slowly wither and die. A city that dies is either a.) a city with a populace that can't handle ups and downs and ragequits rather than fight or b.) a city that allows a small elite to hold all power and refuses to bring in enough people to replace the ones as they leave or c.) a city that tries and fails to bring in new people to revitalize them. I have said this before, city death is a choice, the question is how far you are willing to sacrafice your values in order to revive it.

 No.26631

>>26630

That''s my point, if you're changing the values you're changing the city and using it for something else, so long as you build the framework and unfuck its shit before you get newfags in, and don't make them do all the work just to fucking live somewhere, it can work. But it isn't reviving a City, it's replacing it.

it won't be the same titan you've once loved

but at least something will be there as opposed to being a barren wasteland wasting space in the ever shrinking chanadian landscape

besides im dwelling there now

im sure i can drag in a few chumps from rural cities

 No.26696
