>be an oldfriend from the days of Viridian

>walk around Chanada

>tfw

Viridian's gone, huh? All the memories have faded, all the people moved on.

Sure, life goes on moving South and East of the ruins, but it's strange to walk through a city and see where things were changed in a last ditch effort to keep it alive, or for the only people left to be people who you've never really met or had anything to do with. /pol/ynesia and /k/ompound just aren't the Chanada I knew.

I've seen so many groups come and go in my time playing games that eventually you come to realize that in the end, it's a natural process. Just as the leaves fall and the ground is covered with snow, then the first daffodils pop up practically through the melting drifts in the spring, a community grows, fades, dies, then is revived. So long as there is still fun and games to be had, no community is ever truly dead, sometimes you just need to clear away the mess and let the new sprouts grow. I'm going to go out on a limb here and say that /V/iridian could be revived at some point and quite easily, bringing the long winter to an end.

 No.32936

>>32935

This might just be me, but you could restart a /v/ based town in Viridian with a minority of players who actually lived in Viridian, but I don't think it would be Viridian, I think the time, place and people who lived in the original town define it, I doubt it can be recreated or adequately replaced, and that's needed for it to be truly called "Viridian"

Yes and no. Groups change with time, just look at /Pol/ynesia. Of the original group, only immer and camo remain active and my generation is basically gone, although a few remain. Outcast is one of the few left of his generation as well. With each coming wave, the country changes and new experiences leave people with different perceptions of what /Pol/ynesia is.

Were /V/iridian revived, it wouldn't be the same community, but frankly why would you want the same community? If the people of a town allow it to die off like /V/iridian did (and don't say they didn't, /V/ersailles and Tazmily both are /v/ towns recruited from /v/) why would you WANT them to be the leaders and basis of the community that comes in their stead? There are two types of communities ingame: those that train the next generation for leadership and the inevitably necessary revival of the community, and those that stick themselves in a mold and refuse to allow the community to develop naturally, instead allowing it to calcify and die. This is also another primary difference between Chanada and the HKE. (I guess the fact that /V/iridian shilled so fucking hard to join them is just icing on the cake to prove that much.)

Yeah but with /pol/ it's a tidal effect, new players come in as old ones leave, it wouldn't be like that in Viridian, the ocean has dried up, there are no tides going in or out, it cannot be refilled and then claim to have the same roots, and if doesn't share the same roots, what's the point?

I think in the end what's over is over, I have been an official citizen of every single dead chanadian nation, bar Aki, though I did live and work there for a month. Correlation is not Causation

>Yeah but with /pol/ it's a tidal effect, new players come in as old ones leave, it wouldn't be like that in Viridian, the ocean has dried up, there are no tides going in or out

Well at this point, it makes sense to funnel people to Tazmily, but the ocean is still VERY much there, it's just that people wanted to set up rival /v/ towns or just abandon the used than start again and revive it. (Although, Tazmily's decision was partially due to the nether portal). /V/iridian died as it lived: a flash in the pan. Resin4Life confirmed what I had suspected for a long time to me: /V/iridian's massive population didn't last beyond the first week or so. By late fall of last year, the town was down to a core bunch, which continued to dwindle as the leadership sat around and did whatever. Even in the time I came, there were still a bunch of people there, but most of them were so drastically out of touch with the rest of Chanada even by then that several people (including me) engineered a way to strip them (and MobAction) of most of their rapidly dwindling political power, for the good of Chanada. After that point, it was basically over for them, their vision for Chanada had failed along with their state and /Pol/ynesia put the final nail in the coffin of /v/-town hegemony over the Confederation.

The problem is recruitment. /V/, /b/, /a/, and /r9k/ are all very hard to recruit on, largely because in the case of the first two people are bored of minecraft. In the case of /a/, the mods are awful and ban recruitment threads, and on /r9k/ there is too much competition with other servers.

 No.32963

>>32958

Okay: Why did /V/iridian die and did it sustain its 90 people online at once for longer than a few days? The story I always heard from more than just Resin was that /V/iridian's population didn't last very long and that it collapsed down to about 20 active and continued to dwindle after that point. I remember that even when I first visited, there were maybe eight or so still around, but the quitting of Dave and a few failed political endeavors finally put it down.

Viridian died a long, long time ago, and died as fast as it grew. I am one of the last ones left who actually played on Viridian's first nights.

You can find ruins of abandoned cities everywhere on Civcraft. The people who leave these cities leave behind marks of their life: their buildings, their hollow husks that whisper of the past. Every manmade block has a story to tell, and so it is with the remains of Viridian.

Time has marched on and left Viridian in the dust. All we oldfags can do now is remember the happy days.

>anons still think im a dingus

This is something I discovered on other servers: history is written not by those who are right but by those who remain. And, even worse, those that remain are more than likely to be the people who saw you as a more powerful rival to conquer than not, because unlike your own generation which will get soft and slowly die off, the new generation will grow up seeing you as a rival and something to overcome. You are an older generation than the /V/iridian folks and it's no surprise that that generation which came to replace yours generally disliked you and blamed yours for a lot of what would have otherwise been natural problems and population drops in the fledgling Chanada.

>anons still think bg is a dingus

I'm an easy target. Anybody who is outspoken about what they think is a lightning rod for controversy and will be strawmanned and attacked on a personal level, without fail. Very few people actually can prove me wrong about what I say, but instead attack my delivery and dismiss things as 'bg posting'. Not that I care. If people think I'm a retard, remember that it's people like me who will get the last laugh in the end.

>bg still remembers i was right everytime

The more somebody is shat on by the powers that be, the more they should usually be listened to. A true retard is ignored, because their worthless blathering can be seen for what it really is: stupidity. I have a policy of giving special attention to the people in Chanada who get shit on by the younger generations, because usually they are more right than whatever rebellious types might think. That and you and I worked well together, I considered you a friend.
