=Introduction=

Hello, and welcome to Creative Solutions Consulting.

Though CivCraft has yet to start up again, I would like to take this time in the calm before the storm to introduce my company. In this post, and several following it, I hope to address what areas of expertise that CSC will be handling, and my plans for the future. In addition, I'll be hammering out my business philosophy, and addressing any feedback that might be posted.

When I first discovered CivCraft, I was instantly taken. I hadn't played MineCraft for some time, as multiplayer survival servers had lost their appeal, and single player was even less engaging. My interest was sparked by an emphasis on what I had always thought to be the aspect of the game containing the most depth, player interaction. A server, or experiment rather, with this as its focus has the opportunity to evolve independent of the limits of the medium.

In short, Creative Solutions Consulting will be a tool for aiding the expansion of this experiment, specifically the component which I enjoy the most, encouraging player interaction. It is my vision that it will be used by everyone from the most dedicated heads of state to first day newfriends.

= Marks and Employee Benefits=

As you will read in the following section, integrity and reliability are essential components in a positive transaction. To that end, CSC will keep a detailed record for employers and employees. For every contract kept, a white mark is earned. For every contract broken, a black mark is earned. These statistics will be made publically available, and referenced by CSC. A sort of simplified implementation of a credit score.

Those who choose to dedicate themselves more exclusively to CSC will enjoy benefits which scale with the amount of time they have spent with the company, as well as the number of white marks they have accrued. This will take the form of improved wages, preferential job placement, and so on.

Skilled/Unskilled Labor Networking

The bread and butter of CSC. From the very first day, I will be a vicious mercenary, though not the traditional variety. If you have any skill, a degree of dedication to simple tasks such as farming or mining, or the desire to employ either of the former, you will be my prey. You will be hunted through whatever shards you try to take shelter in, from the loftiest mountains to the bleakest deserts. There will be no escape. You will be trapped in a cage of paperwork consigning both employer and employee to a devastatingly beneficial mutual labor arrangement. Of course, you could save both of us the pain and use the contact information provided below to send me whatever information you like. Obviously, there are only potential nations and theoretical resources at the moment, but that is no reason not to be employed and have employees right off the bat. A small fee will be presented to the employer for doing the heavy lifting in recruitment. An even smaller fee will be presented to the employee for the same reason, though this fee will be waived until they have received their payment for the job.

Employee/Employer Contracts

I touched on this briefly in the preceding section. I am not deluded enough to think that any player will want to sit down for two hours and meticulously debate the specifics of a contract. They will be simple, and to the point. Party A agrees to pay party B for X. What the hell do you need me for then? Quite simply, CSC will become involved if one party does not comply with their obligation to the other. Should an employer or employee fail to deliver, CSC will compensate them, as well as two free services. An employer or employee can request CSC draw up a contract for them, for a small fee. In the case of an employee, this fee may be waived until the completion of the task. Coverage may apply to the worker, the employer, or both. One might encourage employees to work for them by offering to cover their contract fee. If fraud is suspected, the contract is void.

Trade Contracts

Negotiations can often benefit from having access to a neutral party. I will be constantly on the lookout for settlements with an abundance or lack of various materials. War or terrain might make acquiring or selling target goods difficult. CSC will arrange proxies, attempt to settle disputes on behalf of the client, and whatever else it might take to solve the issue. A negligible percentage of the transferred goods, or flat fee can be arranged for contracts relating to this service.

Mapping

Explorers, prospectors, and those with mapping utilities installed will be at a premium in the early game. Along with personally transporting goods, this will likely be the first service I offer, as I currently am an army of one. The fee for mapping an area will be dependant on the size of the area, and the danger involved, likely determined shard-to-shard.

=Secondary (Future) Industries=

- Advertising

If CSC makes a quarter of the progress I hope it will make, a few months after the game has started I will have access to a reasonable amount of capital to reinvest in expanding the business to orient more to the supply side of financial arrangements. A wide range of loans and investments will be explored, to aid any player who has an idea that's worth becoming a reality. I also hope to be able to provide insurance for all manner of things, ranging from setting up bounties in case of pearling, to property destruction.

=Goals and Philosophy=

The most important aspect of a business is determining what you wish to accomplish. For most, this would be attaining wealth. This is admirable, and this kind of person is required to be in the majority for an economy to flourish. I expect to make very little personal profit, as every speck of income will be reinvested in the business itself. MineCraft was among the first games where your success is not measured by an status bar, but by accomplishing whatever goals you have set for yourself. Mine is to grow a successful enterprise that stretches across the world of CivCraft.

To that end, there never be a CSC flag flying over any cities, nor are players to be expected to devote themselves wholly to the company in exclusive of devotion to their nation. Working for CSC is a job, a way to generate income. I will not direct you to fight anyone, though there might eventually be employees who work in a (and I cannot emphasize this enough) strictly defensive capacity, protecting caravans and the like. Non-aggression is simply inherent. On a similar line, I will hold myself to the same standards as I would hold any employee. striving to return meaning to the phrase "moral integrity" as it applies to business. This is the origin of CSC's motto - "Live Well".

The more I think about those companies, the more I think we could make multiple corporations in the chan city, especially since on certain boards the mods are nazis and won't let you shill unless it's a "community" thing.

So I think (if I don't get a government position) I will make a /tg/-oriented corporation to shill and provide work, housing, food and stuff

In my opinion, you don't have to dedicate yourself to one exclusively. Part of what I want CSC to do is give opportunities to people like you who are interested in starting their own business, but have other obligations as well. With CSC to take care of logistics like finding workers, you can focus on your business.
