 No.37540

Let's plan for what needs to be done for Nixonia and CivTemp in General.

If you're bored and need shit to do, here's a few ideas.

1. Travel to Aleph and chop wood, it's easy as fuck with the huge trees and we'll need the charcoal

2. Travel to Tet and mine diamonds, we always need more diamonds. We had 3 stacks of ore a couple days ago but that is dwindling fast.

3. Collect wheat from Gimmel

>Travel to Aleph and chop wood, it's easy as fuck with the huge trees and we'll need the charcoal

We are in a fucking forest lad.

 No.37545

I'd say our top priority right below diamond mining is to

1. Begin fortifying the {REDACTED}; as safe and comforting as it may feel currently the area in which much of our wealth resides is also extremely poorly defended. A solution was proposed by Hairyn to conceal it with artificial lava lakes, to scare off "miners". However since then we have already had multiple security breaches and as such I believe we need to brainstorm a few better ideas.

A few ways to improve the current design would be by

A. Reinforcing all ciellings

B. Sealing all non essential exits as well as one off mining strips

C. Adding additional door ways and checkpoints in order to keep it compartmentalized.

2. We should continue working on the trenches, everyone has been pitching in to help dig them and so far they've come out fantastic, but it'd be helpful now to get Patchy and a few others to actually lay the signs and pressure plates.

3. When it comes to wood I believe someone was working on a tree farm extending towards our "boundaries" at 183x however as of last night Verso, the owner of that land, said he'd be moving and as such we should be free to expand and continue further with the farm so that it does not impinge on the kill zone and trenches.

4. We need to do a wheat run as currently the food stockpile is getting relatively low, I felt this myself when we were attacked yesterday, there is very little food with decent saturation left in the base and as such someone needs to gather some back from Chancer.

Tl;DR

1. Nixonia fortifications

2. Trenches

3. We now have land available for the tree farm

4. Low on food, get wheat

That's all I got for now, I'll be on the mumble and server as soon as I can though!

is the plan to have the meme water trench surround the entire thing?

 No.37548

>>37546

As far as I am aware yes. I think we've completed more than half of the actual digging now all that is needed is the construction

 No.37553

I've been repairing some of the grief in Chancer as well as upkeeping the farms a bit the past few days. Some randos harvested our wheat while I was sleeping but they replanted. I'll harvest the rest of the wheat when it regrows and send it back to Nixon.

 No.37556

>>37553

Thank you. However that's another question that hasn't been definitively answered yet, what are we doing with Chancer? It seems as though we've moved all important infrastructure to Nixonia though some people still want to reinstate control over it.

 No.37558

>>37556

At this point I think we'll most likely keep it as an outpost type deal. I don't see us moving back.

 No.37559

>>37558

Yeah that seems like the best route to go down in my opinion as well.

 No.37560

We should also focus on creating the gem extractor tonight. According to the current config we should be able to upgrade the ore smelter to a gem extractor. I'll try it when I get on a bit later if no on else has.

Also, the bastion factory is an upgrade from the Laboratory factory. That only costs 256 redstone and 32 glass. Then the Laboratory upgrades to bastion.

Problem is the bastion ingredients are currently all placeholder items. I might make a post asking about that.

 No.37564

>>37556

>It seems as though we've moved all important infrastructure to Nixonia though some people still want to reinstate control over it.

We will not reinstate any civilian control over Nixonia. At best it will be a farm and military outpost. No reason to move everybody back to a dead settlement.

 No.37565

>>37560

We need a second ore smelter if we didn't make one already, as we have an ore forge, and it's the smelter that upgrades to the gem extractor, not the forge iirc

>>37545

I made a bit more of the fuckboy trench that can hopefully be expanded upon in my absence; it's already claimed several victims (not including nixonians!), which is impressive given there's only a tiny section finished

I was too busy with silly bullshit all day such as harvesting and replating wheat at fort chancer, fixing the carrot farm (and relocating a house that someone was starting to build into where the clay needed to go), dealing with petty griefers (bewsij+poortea), teaching people how to into citadel, and dealing with the meme fallout of me pearling and shortly after releasing silentcreeper (specifically I just gave him his own pearl as the end's been down for a while) for encroaching on our snow mongol territory and then extinction pearling xavter who was afk in libra, though apparently his identity was unknown at the time and I accidentally revealed it (I assumed someone would've seen or he would've checked his combattag or /ppl or a snitch woulda caught his involvement)

also I got passed some info that some former NSR guy is actively stirring shit and trying to get people to fuck with us (see sashimii's post on the subleddit); speak to qral or whoever else was in mumble if you want more info

lastly it was apparently aegis that raided us yesterady thinking we were an NSR town because one of our guys was there when they attacked NSR and led them back to nix, they issued an apology and a few pretty lengthy statements on the issue or something

ok I'm going to bed try not to start any wars ok

I think the prerequisite for an alliance should be seeing some sort of 'code of conduct' by Aegis regarding PvP. If they are going to run around doing things like killing Mejesta because he was an idiot or killing Hairyn because 'lol, raider', then I think that they should go their own way.

But, having talked to them tonight, Thoths and soccer are both extremely understanding. What I want is to ensure that they don't randomly kill my citizens again, so that means some sort of ability to wait to PvP, instead of being the Civcraft equivalent of a premature ejaculator.

 No.37613

Honestly I was surprised to learn it was Walkers that killed Majesta and Hairyn. Usually he isn't the one to be PvP-happy. I don't think our group has the 3.0 mentality yet and they've made some mistakes on CivTemp but I can assure you it's going to be taken care of. I think a key factor here is communication. We are obviously lacking it in several departments including alliances. In our defense we have at least 35 members and most of them have no idea who any channers are. If you guys have a roster or maybe even a rough list of who is with you it would be really helpful so I can spread it around and they can actually know who the "channers" are.

tbf you'd probably need to see the actual 3.0 maps to know for sure, I'd imagine the civtemp maps are shit because they didn't want to spend much time on them, needed to shoehorn certain biomes, and didn't want to waste good designs on civtemp as they wouldn't be able to recycle them for 3.0.

or they could just be inexperienced/unskilled at maps in general

>or they could just be inexperienced/unskilled at maps in general

Looks a lot like that. I can see the first-google-result brushes just stamped onto the terrian. Another thing a lot of newbies do is they use the soft edges for biome transitions (i.e. the sand to grass in the south most shard, the snow to grass in the east) It looks good in the map view but it looks like garbage in game. They also didn't know that the snow layered, so using the speckled transition in our snow biome would leave giant pits where there's grass and not snow.

It was most definitely very hastily done, that's for sure, but it also looks like they didn't know what they were doing. If this is their second go around in worldpainter, map number 2 might not be so hot.

Most likely wasting my time with this autism-fueled pipe dream, but if you've read my free market initiation proposal, this tower could serve as a solid jumpstart project to incentivize the creation of private industry by housing potential clients in high quality office space. Multiple tenants could live under the 11 proposed stories, with tenants renting out floors (say rates for 1 - 5% of their weekly income in diamonds * the number of floors they rent). It would serve as a concrete and tangible HQ for potential office clients wishing to start up a company; a place where they could store documents, house numerous high profile factories. The tower itself would serve as an excellent project to initiate basic construction and material allocation industry considering the large amount of materials it would require.

As for the tower itself, I based it off dimensions of Extinction's balcony, featuring a 7 x 11 footprint. It would replace the entire balcony and cut slightly into Extinction's home. Extinction would receive compensation in the form of a percentage of all office tenants income being given to Extinction. The tower itself is incredibly centralized and in quite possibly the most high profile location in the city, sitting a block away from the town hall as to not overwhelm it while simultaneously preserving views. It would virtually serve as the premiere symbol to Nixonia's industry/office strength, serving as an encapsulating apex to the city's tower development before we expand outward beyond the main wall. A triumphant "fuck you" to all the other plebbit cities who can barely muster a town hall.

As for the design itself, I took literally every block into consideration to achieve a balance between maximizing floor space and came up with the aforementioned 7 x 11 footprint. After the lobby ends, the west and east walls cantilever one block outwards to garner a bit more floor space. The massing still remains relatively conservative, and it's location helps diminish any overwhelming affect it may have on the rest of the city. With the recent high rises going up, most of it will be obscured anyway.

The design features a grandiose, two story, high security lobby where you can check in and access the stairwell and elevator. Considering the substantial height, no one would want to climb 11 stories to the top floor, so the elevator is designed to drop people off at the 7th floor, leaving almost no floors more than 3 stories away in climbing height, whether you go down or up.

This is merely a proposition/suggestion and I'm not heavily pushing for this as I know people have mixed feelings over a large hulking mass of material.

PROS:

-Hopes to jumpstart free market industry

-Symbolic power to Nixonia might.

-Can jumpstart in particular a construction, material allocation industry

-Keeps people active around a central project

CONS

*IMPORTANT* Due to space restrictions, the tower design is relatively modern and featureless. (This is what most people will not like.)

-Incredibly large tower is not everyone's idea of city aesthetics

-Cut's into Extinction's current home.

-Entire plan could backfire and no one uses the tower

-Extremely heavy material usage

-Time consuming

-Can divert attention away from more priority tasks such as base defense

-Construction can be dangerous

If you really want to kick off some companies, start paying people to form them. As of now there is no real motivation to make a business because you can make twice as many diamonds by mining in get for an hour.

If you can make twice as many diamonds by mining, why get into a corporation to begin with?

You're suggesting subsidising a less profitable business, which in doing so funnels manpower away from mining.

Mining and XP Production are what you do if you want money, a corporation can only really be built on XP Production and it's too early to start that.

Just dig.

>why get into a corporation to begin with?

Would you go to any other restaurant other than Au Bar, Nell's or even Dorsia?

I heard Ivanka Trump visits Texarkan.

...But hey, You chums at the bottom never even had a chance at getting in.

Corporate dining = winning.

We've done extremely good work so far, boys. But, we gotta keep it up.

A special thanks to the newfriends who helped us out when I did not expect. A special thanks go to all the /int/crafters who have donated diamonds and other valuables to us, you are rapidly becoming a valuable and integral part of our community.

1. We desperately need obsidian for the IRO mesh. Mine obsidian.

2. NES has been given permission to set up an outpost of his hatestation people on the Tet border. I see a bit of how I was before joining Civcraft in NES and with this in mind I want to give him ONE chance. The following rules will apply:

-The Outpost is a part of the CUNT. It will follow the rules and expectations of the rest of CUNT and will not be given special status.

-NES will be given protection return for giving us a percentage of his output, especially at the moment obsidian which we need.

-If he fucks up, I have the authority to shut it down. Don't start an international incident. Be smart.

Good work, boys, let's keep it up.

Every time. Honestly, the skyscraper aesthetic has taken over so much that I don't even mind anymore. What I will start doing is allowing development outside the city but inside that little granite barrier outside the walls. I will manage that directly though.

Government Business

1. Due to Tigen's absence, he notified me that I could appoint somebody in his place temporarily. Since Awoo is dealing with a lot of infrastructure stuff for the NIC, he has been put into said position as temporary Minister of Infrastructure. He is not entitled to vote, though, Tigen can still be contacted for that. How awoo and Tigen handle the Ministry when Tigen returns is up to them, I really don't care either way.

2. The Diplomatic Service seems to be working well. All newfriends, try not to post on the subreddit, just vote brigade if you must on any posts you do see.

Da Rules

1. All new houses must be adjacent to the main north-south roads. Awoo, please extend said north-south road from the North Gate and South Gates of the city and construct some sort of fancy gatehouses along the small granite barrier.

2. All new houses must not be adjacent to the trench. Please leave a 10 block empty space surrounding the trench until further notice. Farming is permitted in this area, however.

3. All new houses must touch another existing house. So, whoever makes the first two houses (one north, one south) will determine where development starts.

4. All houses must be approved by me, but the actual specifics of when and how you build it are up to you. I really don't give that much of a fuck.

5. One plot per person.

6. I and I alone approve houses, nobody else.

Bg is seizing power again!

>"He is not entitled to vote, though, Tigen can still be contacted for that"

very nice

Also, people shouldn't be allowed to build outside of the walls. Period.

Honestly I'm going to have to agree with the housing rules and being approved. I built Nix Towers solely for the purpose as a quick, cheap solution for newfriends. Of the 12 units in the tower, over 80% are actively used (not inactive placeholders) by members that come on everyday. They are a great, practical way to keep people within the walls, have housing space, and keep people close together for efficiency reasons.

Unfortunately, even going against my tower advocacy, the development is starting to spiral out of control and I'm afraid I'm partially responsible for creating this tower trend. Restrictions regarding the aesthetics, their size, and functionality in towers need to be put in place. My proposition is any build taller than 3 stories (12-15 meters) or larger than a typical plot size has to be approved by meeting these requirements:

1) Just make the build look good.

Seriously. Go around, take visual cues from other builds that look good and take the time to make it look pleasing to the eye. It's not like you're in a rush, this server is going to be here for a fair while, just please take your time. What? Are you going to finish quickly then bounce around town for the rest of the time you're here? It doesn't even have to be ornate, just use different materials and create texture.

2) Keep the size efficient.

Most places need room for a bed, 3-4 double chests, a furnace and a crafting table. It's fun to elaborate with your build and have fun with space and massing, but it's important to find a medium between space and efficiency. This town is all about density after all. People are probably rolling their eyes because I've repeated this ad nauseam but make sure it doesn't overwhelm the city.

3) Make it functional.

Are people going to need this build? Will people move in and actively use it? Is it going to be a waste of space or not? Will it serve as an long term advantage to the city? Do you have people lined up that are going to use it? Can you see a demand for this build? Can you build something smaller and expand it later to accommodate for fluctuating city needs?

Honestly if you meet those three criteria there really should be no reason not to build it. This stuff isn't even the dreaded "anti-fun dictator brigade" that prevents you from being creative, it just ensures quality.

I should also add I think it's ironic that the town hall I built really only meets the first point of criteria and even THAT is subjective.

I'm not going to require such extreme measurements.

Literally, I will just approve every building and plot personally, just like I did in Volkstadt but this time with a little bit more input on design. That's all. I won't be a dick about such things as height and usefulness. My only general guideline is that I won't allow more than one above-ground plot or underground plot outside of the bunkers. I consider those underground rooms more like bunkers than houses, I won't be a cock about that stuff.
