Might as well nip this in the bud.

99% of Minecraft cities succumb to it, but we'll need to approach the problem of lack of productivity sooner or later, so might as well do it now before the city stalls and simultaneously get acquainted with the idea of a free market for 3.0

Right now everything for the most part is free. Free land, free resources, free gear, etc. Especially with the lack of enchantments, it's currently easy to max out and if there isn't any diplomacy or foreign faction interaction people will inevitably get bored and stop playing. Since we've established ourselves and the city has matured a bit, my recommendation is to start shifting a portion of productivity away from the socialist/communist "everything is free" regime we have going right now and start moving into a free market set up.

Simply put, start encouraging people to develop private industries, private factories, private land, all which sell products to other private people or some sort of government entity through purchasing/selling contracts. This will keep people invested, give them a sense of power, keep them doing something instead of bouncing around the city waiting for shit to be stirred up. Not all resources should be privatized of course, as Qral mentioned, "basic infrastructure needs to be maintained", but for the sake of productivity and maintaining a tangible presence on the server, specific niche markets can be filled by a private company.

Shit that can be privatized even before enchantments encourage these particular industries include building design, fortress security, land security, rail industry, food industry (?), armor industry, potion industry, maintenance industry, valuable ore industry, and even banking and lawyer firms if people start obtaining large amounts of tangible diamond wealth and we set up basic law. Shit son, maybe even a stock exchange.

Please feel free to share your questions, concerns, pros and cons of my suggestion.

This leads me to try and initiate this free market shift and inquire about the idea behind a private rail industry that could work with the government to encourage diplomacy and trade with other cities in Bet and the rest of the server. I would be willing to set up some sort of company with our own PRIVATE factory and set up rail lines for a significant fee. Would there be enough demand for such a company?

I'm going to found the Cooperative Industrial Alliance - Bastion Enterprises (CIA-BANE) after we get established in 3.0. I'll make an autistic wall of text explaining more about it once I get the co-op HQ set up and I start gathering materials for factories.

Does food production need to be privatized? Currently we have the hydroponics carrot/potato farm which anyone can access a la communism, so it wouldn't be profitable for someone to start up a private food company since the citizenry can just take stuff from the collectivized farm. I'd love to get the food industry going if you are interested in privatizing the existing farms, however.

Privatizing the farms won't help us at all though, and doesn't make any sense economically especially since it was a collective effort to get them up and running.

If you want to contribute, gather and sell things which are actually scarce instead of creating artificial scarcity in order to live up to a "market" ideology which has no basis within the context of the conditions within Nixonia right now.

fuck you hotwheels, let me post

Personally I think food shouldn't be privatized in places like Nixonia yet. We have a hard time getting food ourselves and we only really have coal, dark oak, cobble and occassional iron (IIRC). Armour and advanced weaponry could be privatized. Hard to get, not necessary but can help you significantly. As the economy, transport and local job are forcing us to go to Tet, a rather far away shard, to get stuff like diamonds and other ores we need energy. For that we need lots of food and we already pretty much have an infinite amount of food. We are not ready to privatize food yet. Give us time to get a good rail-system so we can hastily travel to Tet and BLAM! Low energy work-travel!

**HERE IS WHAT I PROPOSE**

People should be incentivised to keep and maintain their own factories (incentivised in that they should be granted owenership of the factory and fully the profits made from it). However, there should be a state tax (which can be devised the closer we get to 3.0's release) that would involve player essences.

These essences will then be used, traded, and sold on behalf of the people, by the government, to create and maintain general purpose/basic factories ('basic' is subjective and will also need to be determined by a government, that is, how far up the tech tree should be deemed basic?).

This would only be implemented after we shift from a socialist to free market government, perhaps after the 30-60 day tenure of a future t.b.d. supreme leader.

It will be important for players to feel as if they are invested in the game and have ownership of their own property, inventory, armor/tools etc.. A system that deviates from these principles will be doomed to chronic inactivity and inevitable failure (e.g. Tazmily).

new player won't be able to be competitive since they won't be able to access all factories other do.

Here is my proposal for free market implementation in Nix :

>The factories we have now are here to stay. They are basic and allow everyone to gather really basic resources without waste. Any other factory that hasn't been built yet is left to citizen business enterprise.

>The bunker farms stay as well because they are locked underground and therefore strategic assets, however since they are slow as shit and kinda low output, anyone making private farms on the surface will outcompete them easily.

>The storage isn't used/managed by government members anymore, it's up to the civil society to see if they want to still use it

>If you want to make more districts outside of the city centre to sell the area to other builders, it's up to you to secure them but the profit will be all for you. We will still snitch them probably to nixsn anyway

>same if you simply build outside of the city centre just keep a 32-wide distance between your build and the moat.

This experiment will show what works and what doesn't for 3.0.

Imo we should have work groups assigned for certain tasks, including relevant subjects such as food, materials and defense.

The heads of said groups are not only assigned to PRODUCE such resources, they are also entitled to SUPPLY the city and its citzens with those.

We should have official distribution stations for all the groups, e.g. a centre for food, materials and such, giving our citizens a fixed position for supplies, taking away the problem with greedy jews taking half a stack of diamond blocks "for personal things"
