Well, I guess I'd have to choose 'happy' from your list, I guess. I've already heard most of Beethoven's work and I love it, especially the 5th and 7th symphonies. Also love Franz Liszt's Hungarian Rhapsody.

Basically what I love about classical music is the way all the pieces have this central theme that keeps repeating in different ways. So yeah, I'm looking for music like that, I guess.

I just finished listening to Dvorak's New World Symphony again. This is still my favorite performance of the piece.

Do you guys have a better one? I'd love to hear if you do.

That was really neat anon.
It feels more "controlled" than my favorite. I think that worked well with the 4th movement.
Thanks for sharing!

Anyone know of interpretations taking a different approach to the original sheet music?
When it's done with grace and technique I think it's a great homage.

Hamelin can even be funny sometimes.
I cracked by the end.

I don't know if this really can be considered as different approach. But these guys sure bring some real fucking life the their performance.

This is just obscene. Honestly, I can't say I like it at all. Nothing like the real, raw, organic undiluted stuff.

What about interpretations that are almost always different from the original sheet music?
Like: Beethoven Sonata 14

Classical music jokes/memes/puns thread. I'll start. (Let me know if it's not ok to post 'silly' things like this, but since this is the only place on the internet I can really find like-minded people who appreciate this type of humour, I'll continue).

So a C, an E-flat and a G walk into a bar. The bartender says, "sorry, but we don't serve minors." So E-flat leaves, and C and G have an open fifth between them. After a few drinks, the fifth is diminished and G is out flat. F comes in and tries to augment the situation, but is not sharp enough.

A D comes in and heads for the bathroom saying, "Excuse me. I'll just be a second." Then A comes in, but the bartender is not convinced that this relative of C is not a minor. Then the bartender notices B-flat hiding at the end of the bar and says, "Get out! You're the seventh minor I've found in this bar tonight."

E-Flat comes back the next night in a three-piece suit with nicely shined shoes. The bartender says, "you're looking sharp tonight. Come on in, this could be a major development." Sure enough, E-flat soon takes off his suit and everything else, and is au natural. Eventually, C, who had passed out under the bar the night before, begins to sober up and realizes in horror that he's under a rest.

So, C goes to trial, is convicted of contributing to the diminution of a minor and sentenced to 10 years of DS without Coda at an up scale correctional facility. The conviction is overturned on appeal, however, and C is found innocent of any wrongdoing, even accidental, and that all accusations to the contrary are bassless.

The bartender decides, however, that since he's only had tenor so patrons, the soprano out in the bathroom and everything has become alto much treble, he needs a rest and closes the bar.

If you were to lose a hand, which would you want to lose?

I'd prefer to lose my right because I'd still be able to play violin probably

 No.50

Right.
I play the horn so I only really need my left. I can support horn with a pillow or ergobrass.

Beside I have neurological damage on my right already. I can't used my 4th and 5th finger properly, and my back and neck is weak causing me to lean slightly to right. (had to quit percussion and keyboard because of this…) Doesn't stop me though. If I loose my left also I'll just play something like Kantele with my feet then, or something.

I think I would choose right as well. There are so many more compositions made for left hand alone than for right hand. Probably because pianists kept trying to improve their right hand though various means but ended up damaging them instead.
