Alfred Mann The Study of Fugue is an excellent book. It has a history of the form, and then large excerpts with annotations from Fux, Marpurg, Albrechtsberger, and Martini.

>So, Anon, what music do you listen to?

How do I respond without sounding like a pretentious faggot? I exclusively listen to classical music; sometimes, I listen to military marches for the historical background; and every once in a while, I listen to progressive music heavily inspired by classical elements.

I don't say that, ever, I evade the question by saying that I listen to weird shit and move on.

How would you answer?

 No.133

as long as you don't namedrop a relatively unknown composer, you won't get any weird looks - almost everyone listens to some classical music..
i listen to jazz and classical mostly, so i would reply accordingly..

This video has been going Viral on Tumblr. Look at the comment section.

Notice how everyone is a yes men agreeing with this sick revisionist.

Even white women and men are lapping up the propaganda like dogs.

When is enough enough /class/? every aspect of our culture is being stolen by afrocentrists and the MSM is exalting them.

Why don't we fight back? I have spent years studying classical piano only to be told by this mentally ill thing that I am stealing black culture.

The lies wouldn't be as demoralizing if everyone didn't believe it.

How do you discover new classical music?

I've always enjoyed hearing it but was put off thinking I'm too much of an uneducated pleb to ever have taste. Recently I downloaded the Goldberg Variations on a whim, and realized I really enjoyed listening to it. I've had some okay results using it as a Pandora seed, but I feel like trying to find classical music on Pandora is really doin it wrong.

Is there some kind of radio that will feed me good new material? Should I just give up and start reading up on music history? Unfortunately I hate reading about music, I can never relate the jargon critics use to my own experience of listening to it. (and for non-classical, I've found that critics are all retarded)

>Goldberg Variations
nice

The way I usually found stuff was going through music recorded by musicians I liked, which worked well for me. Say for piano, I would listen to Horowitz or for orchestral works, Karajan.
Going through, I would find certain composers that I really loved listening to, whose works I would explore further. Since you enjoy the Goldberg Variations, maybe you could try listening to more Bach?

 No.143

There's a radio station on my city that always features new stuff. Really good for discoveries

 No.149

I just used Last.fm's radio feature.

 No.170

>>141

classical critics are retarded too

a lot of recordings get pushed to the top because of who made them, not how good they are

music libraries (public and private) are a good place to browse because other people explicitly requested or selected the recordings there

another problem is a LOT of the classic recordings were on vinyl and have not been digitized

honestly though the best way to engage with music is to play an instrument. probably piano.
