I ask all my clopper friends this, and I never get a straight answer, so fuck it, time to press a dead clop community for answers.

What is the appeal to clop art when you have an abundance of humanized art of the same characters? I mean, I'm assuming you're clopping in the first place because you're attracted to the characters and not to horses in general(could be wrong about that, but I don't think all of you guys were into beast porn before the show), so is there some sort of break in immersion or emotional detachment when the porn isn't explicitly pony?

I don't really care what you jack off to, but from my perspective, there isn't really a point to clop when you have thousands of images of humanized/anthro art. At least humanized art is easier to explain to your friends when they find your porn folder. Or maybe you're all just weirdos who have suppressed beast fetishes, I don't know.

I'd say it's a two-fold issue. The first is that yeah, humanized sort of does break the immersion/attachment for the character. What someone is, in my opinion, is a fairly hefty portion of who they are. If I suddenly woke up tomorrow as a sentient rock (to use an extreme example) my worldviews, experiences, and basic daily tasks would change drastically enough that I wouldn't consider myself to be the same person I was before said shift. Same to a lesser degree for humanized ponies: suddenly being a human vs. a pony seems like something drastic enough to divorce them from their personality, even if only a little bit. (And for AU's where they were always human or somesuch, it's hard to imagine that they would have developed the exact same 'selves' that their pony counterparts would have due to the aforementioned differences.)

The second part is that, for me at least, the exoticness of ponies is a bit of a turn on. I'm probably more of a /d/eviant than your average clopper, but tabooness, exoticness, and foreignness are all turn-ons for me. Shit like aliens, magical beings, basically things which don't exist on Earth are prime fapping material because they're essentially unobtainable. Humans though, are everywhere. Even if they have some superficial resemblances to the ponies they're based on, they're still not terribly dissimilar from regular, boring old humans. Combined with my thoughts about the characters still being themselves, and there's not much of a reason to fap to humanized ponies. I'd rather go to paheal and find some R34 of a different character I like, or just search for specific fetishes without specifying characters.

I dunno, I hope that's fairly clear. It's an interesting thing to consider; I'd never really thought about my clopping habits before, so thanks for that.

Huh, that's interesting. I guess I never thought about it like that. Maybe my masturbatory fantasies aren't as in-depth as yours, but in the heat of the moment, I guess I really just care about the baseline traits, like personality, voice, etc, and less of what's taken away from a character with a transition to another species.

That actually explains a lot about clopping that I didn't originally understand, and I'm hitting myself for not realizing it sooner. I guess I didn't realize that arousal from abnormal things were a turn on for this many people… Live and learn, I guess.

Plus it really is to a certain degree the exotic nature of it all. Here we have a species which talks like us, thinks like us, acts like us… But which doesn't look like us, instead taking only the elements which are enough to move it from "alien" to "cute". And then adding a few other things, like wings and magic. That's pretty cool. Humans don't have that.

first, femininity has been ruined in the west. women are not allowed to be feminine anymore or they face mocking and ostracization. so it's more difficult to project it onto humans, even drawings of humans. with ponies it's easier

second, we deal with humans every day and are subconsciously aware of the mortal problems of humans - disease, aging, bad breath. the ponies don't exist irl. and can be easily imagined to be free of these problems. they can be literal angels in your mind

There's not much of a story to tell.

I do a search for fetishes I want to see, and I download the quality art that features those. Some of these images are humanized, some are showing the characters like they are in the show, and some are anthro.

Given the odd, variable art styles some artists have with human body types, and various anthro body types, there's a lot of frankly terrible proportions going on. Pony stuff generally sticks to an agreed-upon consistent style, so there's a less jarring transition there.

I'm usually not going to run into a character with legs and boobs bigger than the entire rest of their body with straight humanizations or ponies.

I'm not going to run into an idiotic art style that tries to use fake, forced diversity as a shield to deflect criticism with anything that isn't humanized or some of the more human anthro images.

I'm not going to see anything that actually looks like a horse if I go human, and most anthro and pony art doesn't use that style in the first place.

Anything that's actually horselike creeps me the fuck out, including ponies with horse faces [the show's art style doesn't resemble any real life animals any more than Mikey Mouse or Donald Duck do], and anthro characters with horse faces or hooves.

With the rare imageset that shows the same characters in the same situations either as ponies or humans, I tend to favour the all-human version of the picture.

Actually, I don't even watch the show. I just fap to the horses.

Now, a real horse, you cum inside it and that's about all that's gonna happen. You're not going to knock up a real world horse.

But here we have intelligent horses that talk. and use magic. and fly. and so on and so forth… already impossible, so why not pretend that you COULD breed them?

Why, they're just animals, in the eyes of the law. They can't take you to court for rape or for child support. You could knock one up with no consequences! And they ARE animals. a pony in heat doesn't know what the word "no" even means.
