The Oscars literally added the 'Animated Feature' award because Beauty and the Beast was nominated for Best Picture and they freaked the fuck out that those awful CARTOONS would intrude on serious adult movies and serious adult things.
Inside Out deserved kudos for sure; can't say it isn't a story everyone can relate to on some level. But the judges pretty much just shove the award at the latest Disney thing that their kids like so they can move on to whatever misery-porn Oscar Bait is being pushed this year.
