Really? I got something different from the episode. Besides getting some direct one-on-one smooch action, Finn didn't get bent out of shape over the whole ordeal. She didn't outright admit it, but it's clear Huntress still wants his dick. I think Finn's going to start going into things with girls with a more detachment and less investment now.

I want to see him get a harem going. I know most of the princesses want his dick, but he can expand his horizons much wider.

I also thought the animation during this episode was more fluid than previous ones. The animators were experimenting more with the perspective a la spinning around Finn playing the flute.

I could feel the movement more in general. It was far more expressive than it's usually been in the past few seasons.

Late as hell but it still does interesting stuff all the time. Like, even in this episode if you ignore the c*cking Finn and Jake hung out with a cool forest lady, hunted a neat electro boar, Finn went on a brief spiritual drug trip, and metaphorically stabbed himself. That's pretty neat stuff.

Adventure Time has gotten shittier, and there are times where it is a literal travesty that I can't begin to conceive what they were thinking, but I'd be being dishonest if I wrote it off wholesale because they made shitty decisions in the past.

I still really like Finn and Jake, there are some cool and interesting episodes, and even if you shit on the show for everything it has an impressive way of always being unpredictable (so much so that it's actually been very harmful to the show at times).

Even at its worst when Adventure Time is driving off a cliff on fire it's at least an entertaining wreck, otherwise there still wouldn't be threads full of people shitting on it.

Adventure Time's a piece of shit but I guess I find it a somewhat endearing piece of shit that can impress me sometimes.

Crossover was a much better than average episode but at the same time I was like "Show you're a little late on that," been freaking 3 years so I'm not exactly chomping at the bit to see the dramatic conclusion to something that seemed resolved anyway.

Even so it was cool.

I do think season 7 has been better than 6 mostly because it doesn't have its head shoved so far up its ass. Episodes like Astral Plane and The Comet were a little insulting with the crap they were trying to make seem significant and touching, but eh, water you gonna do.

Even then season 6 had some great episodes, but they kind of get sullied by everything that surround them.

Finn's treatment by the narrative has been confusing at best and cruel at worst, but season 7 may be trying to redeem him. Aside from being totally worthless in Stakes (which was pure bullshit) he's been impressively rational and mature in basically every other episode this season. Hell, even in Flute Spell he kissed a gal for the first time in like 3 years, that was neat I guess.

It's foolish to hope, but I'm wondering if the writers actually consider Finn's terrible excuse for a character arc kind of concluded so now he's more self actualized or some shit.

AT is an odd show but I don't think I'll ever be able to dislike it because of all the good times in the past and the cool stuff they still pull off now and again. Plus I really like Finn and Jake, those are swell guys. It's been nice having a wealth of episodes focused on them recently.

they do I think, but they have a seriously funny way of showing it.

my problem with Flute Spell is it seems more of a portrait of how irrational he still is. he spends the episode lying and running away from his feelings to the degree he may not have even realized he felt anything, and he puts himself in serious danger (emotional here, but often it's physical) for this lie he makes to himself. even if he accepts his fate at the end of the episode, his behavior overall really isn't mature at all and I have a hard time believing the message of the episode was somehow the opposite of what I got from it.

if I were writing this show I'd see his character arc as being at a crisis point, not over.

Originally I thought that Ice King would just call any penguin Gunther and if there were more than one penguin Gunther would be the first one he addressed and the others would be just random variations of that name. It also fits with how he called Marceline Gunther and with the origin of the crown. It makes sense, he's half insane and sees Evergreen's apprentice in every person.

Then Orgalorg came and all the sudden Gunther is one specific penguin that just happens to be by Ice King all the time. I know the explanation was that he forgot his real identity, but come on. It completely takes out the random goofyness out of Ice King calling everyone Gunther when there is an actual Gunther. It's yet more fanfic-tier writing.

Call me cancer for this if you must, but I actually liked the Finn and Flame Princess relationship. I thought it could have led to an interesting story about good and evil. There's a number of ways you could have played it; Finn's quest to make his girlfriend not a crazy bitch, Finn realizing that his girlfriend will always be a crazy bitch and that he should put his values before his personal happiness and grow stronger from it, or even have it end where Finn realizes his girlfriend is a crazy bitch and accept her as that and love her in spite of it and make it a lesson about how trying to change people doesn't always work and sometimes you have to just let them be themselves.

and beforehand I actually liked the idea of Finn and de-aged Bubblegum. I should have realized long ago that this show was never going to do accomplish anything.

I'm sure the Finn/FP arc would have been cool if it had proceeded as intended. Rebecca wanted Finn to get his needs met, to have someone who loved him. The only problem with FP was the show wouldn't use her. They wanted her gone so bad they made Finn act wildly out of character just to get himself dumped. I'll never understand what was so scary about FP, to every writer except Sucrose. Maybe you can't write something you've never had – a successful relationship.

It's kinda unfair to compare the two, not because "muh animu iz better thar kaytoons", but because they are made by 2 different kinds of people

JJBA is made by a guy with actual creativity and love for his work

AT is made by people who lost their creative spark and love for their work, always trying to prove that they are "better" and more mature than this… It's sad really, but at the same time is hard to feel any kind of empathy for them
