That said, the more episodes I watch, the less sense the setting makes. I think any attempt to come up with a self-consistent model of the SvtFoE multiverse is doomed to fail because the Rule of Funny takes precedence over everything else.

I don't think that the plot isn't making any sense, the plot is really simple the only thing that's really strange is in the last episode when the wand exploded everything was destroyed except the mirror/coat hanger I already seen something like that in a book but I don't remember where (a soul is attached to a object making the said object indestructible) I think it's Hp Lovecraft who putted something like that in one of is novels.

The plot makes sense when taken at face value, but as soon as you start asking how things that appeared in separate episodes would interact off-camera, it all starts to fall apart.

I mean, just consider the combination of a dimension which literally controls time and numerous pairs of dimensional scissors owned by various seemingly insane people. It's a statistical impossibility that the multiverse even continues to function.

It's as if someone gave every resident of an insane asylum a tactical nuclear bomb and told them to have fun.

The functions of the scissors where never explained, some scissors may have more power than others or the owner must a a kind of death not like system:

to go to a place you must know that it exist and have a vague thought of what it looks like or it's name small detail like that.

I do like the subtext that Earth is considered a backwater among dimensions, but when you actually look at it Mewni is basically a Third World country in comparison and other dimensions aren't much better, either being Third World equivalents or run by near-omnipotent lunatics. (Or both!)

That and Mewni's most dangerous enemies can be beaten up by a teenager who knows karate. Which is just as well, as Star uses her wand like a 12 year old uses the rocket launcher in Quake.
