What is this movie? A crass, dumb, painfully simple 'deconstruction' of Pixar movies where in-animate things come to life. However, the punchline of it was shown in the trailer. All of this is presented as an R-Rated animated CGI comedy. The FIRST, even. This is the standard that will set the bar for adult, CGI animated movies.
Moreover, if you're supporting this, you're not supporting MORE R-Rated animated movies getting made. You're supporting SETH ROGAN making MORE SHIT. This is LOWEST COMMON DENOMINATOR SHIT. It's half true. Technically, theaters opted out of airing it, but Sony allowed independent ones to screen it. Eventually, they cancelled the movie being screened altogether. To their credit, they reneged on that and let theaters and others air it, but the pulling of the movie's release on December 25th was a pussy move when they could've avoided that altogether and just did what they were going to do after the major chains said they weren't gonna air it.
My point is, however, that The Interview shouldn't have been this thing for people to use to stand in solidarity of North Korea. It was a shit comedy that happened to find itself in this really lucky situation of being 'patriotic' to see to stand up to North Korea.
