I think what happened with CAD: TAS is that Buckley had ambitious plans for it by Ryan Sohmer kept telling him his studio couldn't pull it off, so they cut corners to try and make it work.
You'll notice that during the second season, after Buckley and Blind Ferret fell out, the animation quality improved marginally and the show was released for free. Of course obvious the show was made at a loss, but it improved.
I think what happened is Sohmer realized he wasn't going to make any money off Buckley's ideas, so he tried to make the show as cheaply and as quickly as possible and then put it behind a $10-per-month paywall, trying to squeeze every cent he possibly could from it.
So basically, Sohmer jewed Buckley.
