I dunno, it looks pretty fun. I think my biggest concern at the moment is how hard they are going to shoehorn in Wonder Woman. The trailer where they tried to hype her up was cringe worthy and if they try to make her steal the show that could be a deal breaker for me.

 No.548665

So basically they just went and repurposed Superman Lives, didn't they?

 No.548748

I realise the MCU films get a bad rap around here, and probably rightly so, but I enjoy them as popcorn flicks (plus you don't have to worry about the backstory, we saw the origins right there).

DC seem to desperately want a piece of that pie, but don't have a clue how to go about it. Marvel are bound to do a villain team up at some point, DC are starting with it! Shouldn't all those villains be put in jail by heroes in individual films (and a Justice League or two) first?

It's a shame, really. Ask people to name 3 superheroes and Superman and Batman will be the first two.

 No.548763

>>548748

People in charge of Marvel's cinematic universe know how to work with characters that they have. In case of DC, they are clueless what to do, got Goyer to be behind the stories only because he wrote Batman films, ignoring that he is a no fun allowed faggot who thinks that most superheroes are too stupid to make films out of and should be more like Batman. Even Fox is in better shape, despite holding on only to X-Men and F4.

DC should just get some decent scriptwriter who enjoys and knows how to work with capes, and then just hand script to Snyder. Alternatively, they could just give a free hand to someone like Edgar Wright and let him make a movie about whatever character he wants (knowing him it would probably be Booster Gold or Plastic Man) without need to tightly fit into continuity.

>DC seem to desperately want a piece of that pie, but don't have a clue how to go about it

That's the problem. They had Dark Knight in 2008, the same year Iron Man released. I don't think they had the same plans Marvel did, because not only are they rushing their Cinematic Universe, they clearly weren't planning this as far back as Marvel.

The first one that could really be considered DCCU is Green Lantern, and that was a gigantic flop. Since they still had Nolan by 2012, and he didn't want to make his Batman DCCU, they had to put all their chips on Snyder and Man of Steel. The name sold people, but really it was a subpar movie too far up its own ass to tell a decent story and make Clark Kent, one of the most endearing and likable people in DC, exactly that.

In fact, I still can't believe how much they did not get Superman. Pa is a brooding man who tells him to not be a good person or a hero should he have the opportunity, and Ma is literally telling him in this new one that he doesn't "owe these people anything". What a complete antithesis for this character who is defined as a being a good person who's not willing to kill or let innocents come to harm. Man of Steel feels like they didn't want to do the origin story for Superman, and wanted to jump to a more interesting plot about the potential abuse of his powers, which comes far to quickly to be effective because we never establish Clark as a super nice, hard working, mom's apple pie kinda guy.

He shows complete disregard for destroying Metropolis or Smallville, which I don't even think I would've minded as much if they showed him being HEROIC and SAVING PEOPLE from his fight with Zod. He snaps Zod's neck, which alone isn't a crime, but it's forced when he screams like a bitch, and you consider that they never establish him being against killing. His whole character never took a strong moral stance on this stuff, which some of the best interpretations do.

In short, DC has no patience and wants to have all the Avengers money, but they aren't willing to actually build a universe.

>Snyder is a competent director

No he isn't. He made one decent-ish movie, The Dawn of the Dead remake, and one great unintentional comedy, 300.

Everything else he's made has been pure shit. He knows very little about narrative or pacing. His 'directing' consists of blue-screening the shit out of everything. God forbid he actually write the scripts himself because he somehow manages to be a worse writer than he is a director.

I have absolutely no idea how Warners thought he was the perfect person to headline their foray into cinematic universes, considering that 300, Watchmen and Man of Steel all underperformed and Suck Punch outright flopped. The only conclusion I can come to is that Snyder must suck a mean dick.

It's a serious case of clusterfuck and a hard turn in the wrong direction.

They picked probably the worst group of people to head up their cinematic universe. Goyer, who hates most capes aside from Batman, and Snyder, whose hack status is widely known.

Taking a more serious approach to their film universe wasn't necessarily a bad idea, in theory, differentiating themselves from Marvel tonally was pretty much a necessity.

The issue is that they're not just going darker, they're going grimdark, and badly aping Christopher Nolan's films in the process.

I think Snyder can do okay when he's strictly behind the camera. If he gets much say in how the film itself is supposed to turn out or so much as glances at the script it turns to complete shit.

Warners picked him to head up the Justic League shit because he directed Watchmen. Which I think did pretty well financially. So technically he's already got a superhero team movie under his belt.

Retards who can't into difficult thoughts think purely in physical terms when discussing a character struggling.

Superman can break the planet with a punch but he struggles a lot more mentally than any other cape as a result.

Normies look at him and go 'lol so overpowered!' because it's easy and that's all they see. Disregard the fact that like half of his rogue's gallery are just as strong as he is, if not capable of handily beating him if he doesn't really hulk the fuck out.

But they see Batman and think he's super duper cool and relatable because he doesn't have any powers. Disregard the fact that the guy's a who just uses his uber intelligence to solve any problem when the plot demands it. Knows literally every single kind of martial art on the planet, and is capable of pulling supergadgets out of his ass to solve any problem.

Batman's more Gary Stu than Superman ever was at this point.

>Warners picked him to head up the Justic League shit because he directed Watchmen. Which I think did pretty well financially.

No it didn't. It cost $130 million to make and only made $180 million in total at the box office. Even a non-Hollywood accountant would consider that a failure and that's not even getting into how much it cost to promote the movie.

The man's track record as far as films generally go give no indication that he should be headlining these major studio films. He's not Nolan. He doesn't have Nolan's track record. He's not in Nolan's calibre.

Zack Snyder, since Sucker Punch, is mad that he's seen as "the genre director" who makes nothing but schlocky overproduced things like Sin City/300 and has been desperate to prove that his movies are intelligent.

However, doing so requires more than heavy-handed allegory and actually having something important to say rather than just dropping shit like "superman = hope" and praying everyone will mistake that for depth in probably one of the most cynical depictions of Superman we've ever seen.

Film critics eat up shit with actual depth every day. Film courses draw on the entire canon of filmography and compare them against each other in terms of effectiveness. I think it's safe to say that critics don't like Batman V Superman because it's essentially a Michael Bay film with darker window dressing.

Especially since normalfags who think Batman is totally awesum!!!111eleven since he's DARK and shit are probably going to fall all over themselves praising this movie because that's exactly the type of person Snyder himself is.

Film critics are the height of elitism. They hate normalfags even more than we do.

That Superman=Jesus shit is so heavy handed I feel like A Pimp Named Slickback struck me with his pimp hand.

It's the most dipshit retarded allegory I've seen for any superhero, and only hacks jump on that bandwagon, unless they're REALLY good at telling the story, which Snyder is clearly not. It's the same kinda shit now where only the hacky directors are gonna keep using the Joker for the "we're two sides of the same coin" thing.

I know it's often brought up, but it cannot be overstated how much better the DCAU was than live action DC.. BTAS, STAS, JL, JLU, so on and so on even past those into Green Lantern and Brave and Bold. Things that treated the characters with respect and gave them their time to shine. I love the interpretations of those characters because they're so much more than the public knowledge of them. They show different stories and characters beyond the same ones we see in the movies with greater care placed on them.

I guess my biggest problem is that they don't want to do the shit the audience might not recognize. Marvel has variety in what they're doing even though the formula is getting stale, but DC doesn't and it feels like they'll never figure that out. They're not doing Suicide Squad because it's cool and might have potential. They're fucking doing it because Guardians of the Galaxy was a hit.

That's why they'll fail. They're followers and not leaders. They have no vision or any plan except for "make money". Marvel has a similar one, but they have people that give a fuck.

And when finally we get to the part everyone been waiting for, its kinda short. They only fight once. Bats wins of course, because he gassed Supes twice with gassified kryptonite. And then Lois Lane stop Batman from stabbing Supes with a spear, where its head are made of kryptonite.

The movie should've just named Dawn of Justice and not Batman Vs Superman because they only met once at Luthor's party as Bruce and Clark, just like in the trailer. And the next time they meet again when they are about to fight as Batman and Superman. This movie isn't like how Batman versus Joker in The Dark Knight, where two men battle each other not just fistfight but also different ideologies and worldviews. Batman just see Superman as a threat because of the destruction of Metropolis in MoS and never even try to understand what Superman really is or who is Superman real identity. And Clark Kent just see Batman as brutal vigilante and while he did tried to investigate Batman, the plot never goes deeper on that point because suddenly Luthor managed to frame Superman as a threat to the USA.

And there was a short scene where Clark goes to an icy mountain and his dad (Kevin Costner) showed up on top of that mountain telling him some story I don't really remembered.

The whole movie is quite confusing because of the jump between scenes is really fast, I left the theater feeling really tired. Batman got a lot of screentime than Superman, hell even Lois Lane and Luthor felt like they are more in the story than Superman.

Bruce have a lot of nightmare scene in the movie, at one time, he dream of the alternate future where he is on the desert like in the trailer, like the plot of Injustice where Superman kill Joker for killing Lois. After Superman kill Batman after he pulls Batman mask off, Bruce woke up in the batcave and suddenly some portal opened up and some guy I don't know which superhero he is telling Bruce that Superman is evil and Lois is the key. And then Bruce woke up again.

Wonder Woman doesn't have a lot of screentime and she's didn't add more to the story anyway, she's really just there to help Batman and Superman fighting Doomsday.

Jesse Eisenberg as Luthor is really shitty villain to me, because he speak really fast and speaks in poetry a lot. Sometimes his lips looks like he really need to go to take a piss. And he made Doomsday by fusing Zod's corpse and his own blood.

Fight scenes are pretty cool, especially Batman. Wonder Woman is pretty good in fight scenes. Sometimes CGI WW looks really buff than Gal Gadot and she screams a lot when fighting.

Superman died while stabbing Doomsday with kryptonite spear and Doomsday stab Superman with his own kryptonite spear which was growing from his hand, its doesn't look that bad, kinda logic that Superman really think he need to stop Doomsday. I don't think he'll stay dead tho, the last shot of the movie showing some dirt start floating from his coffin.

I guess it all turned out pretty bad, but I mean people liked Deadpool and I really, didnt, if you take out the comedy is just another shitty movie like tor 2.

I expect it to be meh, at least the cgi in MoS was much better than anything marvel has done. Maybe this one will be as good at least on that area.

Don't make this a fucking Marvel vs. DC shitfest. We all know Marvel is better at making superhero movies. I'm fucking DCfag with 1,000+ DC comics in my comics folder and I hold no fucking illusions over DC's utter incompetence.

Also, CGI doesn't matter shit if the movie is shit. Transformer movies have a lot of CGI and every one of them is complete garbage.

Rotten Tomatoes is real critics who are published.

If they are just going to be cheese and action, they should at least try to be half as good as something like Pacific Rim.. Superman vs Batman is none of them.

 No.549692

>>549642

Need to be? Depends on the superhero, but for the most part no. Doesn't mean they can't be.

But Batman Vs. Superman is none of those things.

You know what my favorite superhero movie is? The Thomas Jane Punisher film. No, it wasn't perfect. It wasn't as dark as the Punisher usually is, it rewrote some things that would make dedicated fans upset, it had its flaws. But for me, it was fun, and actually felt like a comic book in movie form without being too cartoonish about it. I liked Thomas Jane's performance, and the action scenes. That was all I needed.

they had an actor who understood the character, a pretty faithful origin story, a great supporting cast and a damn fine soundtrack as well.

people give john travolta shit because he's billed as the villain, but he's a mob boss, nothing more. dude sentences people to death like he was writing a pizza order, this is nothing new.

Chronicle was still kind of a mess because of what a drastic turn the loser kid takes just to get to the super power fight at the end.

Even still, Chronicle was a movie carried by it's script and premise. Trank just made sure those two things got into the actual movie.

Fant4stic had a huge problem with both of those. The studio wanted a super hero movie to put up against all the cool shit everyone else was doing.. Trank wanted a moody body horror film about cosmic horror and self-loathing.

He stole the kryptonite from Luthor. Luthor acquire the kryptonite stones from the 2nd world engine the tentacle security thingy that Supes destroyed in MoS. Because of that, Luthor then kidnap both Lois and Martha Kent and after throwing Lois from the top of a Lexcorp building to get Superman attention, Luthor then tells Superman if he doesn't kill Batman then Luthor will kill Martha. This is before the ultimate fight between Superman and Batman. This made Superman fought Batman half heartedly until Batman gas him with a couple of Kryptonite.

>How does batman know how to make kryptonite and that it would have any affect on supes?

Batman stole some data from Luthor's house. The data not only have information about the kryptonite but also about meta human, which include WW, Flash, Cyborg and Aquaman.

>>549570

I apologize in advance if some of my wording confuse you but I get to see it for free and I still disappointed.

Luthor used Krypton ship for it to happen, the ship have some technology that can revive Zod.

How Bruce stole the data

>The night of Luthor's party

>Bruce came to the party as Bruce Wayne

>Clark was there too

>Alfred told Bruce where the server is in the house

>Bruce goes to the server while Luthor was giving a speech

>Clark heard superhearing Bruce talking with Alfred by accident

>Bruce put a device on the server that takes 7 minute to finish gathering the data

>Bruce goes back to the party and Clark tried to talk to him about Batman

>The device is done and Bruce go back to the server room to take the device

>Clark followed Bruce but then he saw on the news that some mexican are in trouble so he goes to save them the scene where everyone tries to touch Supes in the trailer

>Bruce got in the server room but the device was gone, Bruce turn around and saw a woman (WW) look at him and quickly walk away. (it implies that WW stole it)

>WW got in a car and drives away

>Bruce found WW in a museum (I don't how he found her)

>WW told him she couldn't decrypt the device and she put the device in Bruce's car (There is no scene showing which car or Bruce getting the device back, just cut to him plug in the device to decrypt it.
