Welcome to /col/, the 8ch settlement board! This board is for discussing all sorts of efforts to create 8chan-related communities in physical space.

"Let's all just move to our own house/compound/farm/commune/town/city/nation!" has always been a popular topic both here and on halfchan. However, a lot of these efforts quickly die out, fade into irrelevance, and repeat the same simple errors over and over. I bet all of you fags who are into this shit are the same people anyway, so we might as well have a single place for these things where we can learn from past mistakes.

Rules:

1. One official thread per project. You can have as many unofficial ones as you like.

2. Don't fuck with other projects.

3. Do not advocate illegal activity. (I mean things like moving to a farm and making drugs, not the complicated problem of sovereignty itself)

4. General discussion threads about matters relevant to more than one project are fine. (such as financing strategies, power generation, international law)

5. Meta discussion can go in this thread.

>what are official threads

In official threads, constructive criticism is encouraged, and I will delete negative comments like "this will never work, you're all retarded". Official threads must have the word "official" somewhere in the subject.

Everywhere else, anything goes.

>Don't advocate illegal activity

All filibustering is illegal activity in violation of the US Neutrality Act and similar treaties for other countries.

So right there that's all terrestrial colonies gone leaving only ocean steading.

But wait there's more. Every sandbar is already claimed by another country. When Minerva was colonized by libertardians in the 80s, a bunch of abos showed up in a boat to kick them off.

ALL SUCCESSFUL COLONIES WILL HAVE TO ENGAGE IN MILITARY OPERATIONS AGAINST A NATION WITH WHOM THE 1ST WORLD IS AT PEACE.

Thus being in violation of the Neutrality Act. There are loopholes around this, like planning such actions off-site which is a good idea anyway, but as it is written you've got every colony in violation of the rules in some factor, with rival colonies using the rules to try to get each other banned.

If this needs to be a rule, it should explicitly state that the penalty is post removal or individual user bans for repeated offenses.

I should add that while the Neutrality Act doesn't forbid discussing filibuster action, all the convictions using it have been for 'planning to violate' it. So it doesn't so much matter the letter of the law since none of the people convicted under it actually engaged in any military action themselves, they were always caught planning it which the law doesn't actually forbid.

Well, obviously the creation of sovereign territory by itself is a legally gray area. Firstly almost all land on Earth is already claimed (and claiming anything not on Earth is illegal), and for neutral waters there are similar restrictions. So if you intend to create a sovereign state, it appears like you intend to also (illegally) seize territory from an existing state.

However, it isn't quite so simple.

1) Palestine is one example of a bunch of people trying to create a sovereign state by seizing territory from Israel, they even use violent means for it, yet nobody would claim pro-Palestine activism is illegal.

2) The creation of Israel itself is regarded by many to be a legal, acceptable process. (many others disagree, but all of them are heavily invested in the Palestine dispute)

3) Many countries have legal means of territorial secession, for example recently Scotland attempted to secede from the UK.

4) Previous history seems to show that these rules are rarely enforced for trivial cases. When a small group goes to a tiny, uninhabited piece of land and declares independence, nations usually just leave them be.

5) This board is not just for creating sovereign nations. It is also for discussing 8chan related towns or settlements, without any international aspect to them.

By this rule, what I mean is "don't discuss the details of your plans to move to a farm in Kentuckky and start a meth lab", because these may get reported to HW for illegal activity. I'll edit that rule to make it clearer.

I used to think JIDF was a myth, but I see that it is in full force tonight. Can't accept people wanting to escape from your multicultural paradise, kike?

I was trying to be neutral in the whole issue. I agree that there are many in the mainstream who claim Israel is illegitimate, but all of those are Palestine supporters and are only saying it's illegal because of their stake.

If you look at top 10 most powerful nations, or even the whole world, most countries agree that Israel is legitimate. I'm not saying that this proves that it is - I don't even want to discuss whether Israel is legitimate because that's a tangent. The point I was trying to make is twofold:

1) Unless you want to go the military route in creating your nation, these big countries are the ones you will need to convince that creating artificial nations should be allowed. Since they've allowed Israel, they should allow you as well.

2) If these countries don't consider the creation of Israel (or the attempted creation of Palestine for that matter) illegal, they should also not get all high and mighty about telling us NEET fucks that trying to start our own nation is illegal.

Wasn't trying to debate Israel itself. For that, >>>/pol/

Gomrad Boar Donor, are you advertising this board in /namibia/? I'm permabanned from there for pointing out that they need permanent resident visas to stay longer than 3 months and that crossing the border won't work.

As /namibia/ dies when they realize it's a stupid plan, we'll have an opportunity to capture some of their traffic and get cross /pol/lination going, but right now it's just you and me posting here and no one else knows about this board.

>TFW even the Boar Donor has abandoned the board.

Still here, just not as NEET as I would like to be.

I did make one post in /namibia/ but didn't seem to get very enthusiastic replies. If you stumble on relevant discussion, I'd be happy if you mentioned this board, yes. I think the best strategy would be to find people who have experience dealing with similar projects, and give them an opportunity to share their experience by asking interesting questions.

Hello admin, nice board.
I made a similar one before realizing that there's one just like the one I made. You should probably tag it so people can find it.
Oh and I'd like to know what the policy here is? I hope it's not some fucking white utopian dream like /nabibia/. I only browse there to see good start-up suggestions but this will take years to set into action and we need enough funds before we just jump into it.

My suggestion would be to look at as many options as possible and determine the pros and cons of each one while having a general plan of what to do and how to do it.
My top 2 regions would be Africa, Indonesia and S.America; but before we even begin to make decisions we need to educate our self about those regions so there needs to be a /col/lit/ section.

Well, my goal is to have a board (and hopefully community) where you can go to get informed discussion about previous attempts. One thing I notice is that whenever there's some project like this, everyone acts like they're the first people to ever think of starting their own nation, and keep reinventing the same wheels.

As for policy, I was planning to let everyone start a thread for their own settlement if they want. If they don't want to get flooded with naysayers, I'm in a position to help with that as the BO. But I think naysayers are important, so they are welcome to voice their concern outside the official thread.

I don't think I should set rules for the projects themselves. I can only set rules for discussions of projects. Anything beyond that is up to the users. But IMO it wouldn't hurt to brainstorm a bit about rules that any such project should/would have, etc.
