EggClop Major Update #1. The Sisters Learn to Imperialism

Howdy folks.

While I think that >Clop is a fantastic game as is, nothing is perfect. So I've decided that I'm going to use this opportunity to try to make things even better! I am proud to present the first update in >EggClops branch of >Clop


The war between the NLR and the SE has become stale, and what do 2 unrivaled superpowers do when they get bored? They colonise of course!

Starting today NPC nations will spawn, ostensibly owned by either the NLR or the SE.

Here are the important points relating to these new NPCs;

>These nations will be controlled by your glorious admin, and will be able to be invaded. (they will always spawn at age 14.)

>These nations will have a set budget for their personal defence, as well as a modest standing army at spawn

>Attacking these nations will royally (ha) piss off whichever Sister owns it, however the other sister will be pleased. (-200 relationship with the owner, +200 with the other)

Now, you might be asking yourself, "That seems like an expensive effort, why should I bother?"

As with all questions in >clop, there are a few relevant answers;

1. A free, moderately developed nation will be yours!

2. These nations are funded by the Sisters, and have very reasonable stockpiles up for grabs.

3. New loot! One advantage to being owned by a Superpower, you get supplied with the newest, top of the line arms and armour. These pieces of equipment will be completely unique and uncraftable!

4. Dick waving

In addition to the above, the increased Superpower presence in the area incentives them to pay more attention to their most loyal allies. Because of this the Government types Lunar Client and Solar Vassal are receiving a buff. They will now be able to call in a new type of Mercenary called Conscripts. These units, in addition to being the same price as a normal unit, start with training 20. SV/LC no longer have any need for expensive Barracks.

EggClop Major Update #2. Multiculturalism, and Why you're a Shitlord Without It!

Now that you've got your laughter out of the way, Allow me to present the next update to our little fork of >Clop

Multiculturalism: A new Government option on the Lunar tree that offers an alternative to Oppression for medium to largish empires.

MC offers a substantial sat bonus for each additional nation in your empire, however this bonus follows a curve and will eventually end up being a penalty. Don't want to get too integrated after all!

I won't spoil the precise formula for these bonuses, but I'm sure one of you will figure it out shortly. However, be warned that this bonus relies on being able to pay for your government upkeep. Failing to meet it can and will cause your abrupt death.

Possible improvement thread

So far we've had Polands' rehost and now Egg's rehost. Honestly I was hoping someone would try to reinvent the game and push it further than it was. Right now this is just a draft of what /I/ would like in the game. Keep in mind that I like overly complicated games with lots of smaller things to manage and balance.


Population multiplier controls birth rates + immigration rates

Birth rates can be increased w/ fertility boosters (drug/enhancements facilities)

Environmental problems decrease life expectancy

More pollution = more diseases

Industry (production/efficency of production buildings)

Increased by multiplier

Multiplier increased by propaganda (Statues, etc.)

Buildings require a minimum workforce assigned to function

Hardcap on max # of workers assigned

More workers = more production but also higher cost of running (possibly double workers makes 1.75x more resources at 2.1-2.25x more pollution and running cost)


DNA from other regions can be used to mutate your population to be more resilient to pollution and other negative health factors however causes instant rebels (possible sister agro something like 75% chance for each sister to get angry at unethical procedures) also causes instant rebels and huge satisfaction loss (extremely risky but possible benefits could be great)

Alicorns created by mutation (for ascention) have a short lifespan due to their extremely unstable genetic modification, they cant breed with each other or any others (no fertility/births) however the promise of becoming an alicorn increases immigration greatly

Dictatorships and oppression govs decrease/nearly stop immigration however industrial multiplier is greatly increased

Prez’s have greater base industrial multiplier than any others


Basic, Advanced and Universities/Research Centers used to educate citizens

Each building increases education of population by a certain amount each tick up to a certain hardcap

Education spent on a ‘tech tree’ to unlock buildings and abilities

Impossible to unlock everything on the tech tree (possibly only enough points for one or two branches to specialize in a certain area which could increase dependence on other nations)

However, here's what I *am* going to do:

- Percentage wealth taxes on everything: bits, resources, weapons, armor. I should have done this a while back, but I was talked out of it. Once Compounds is out of beta, I'm just going to do it.
- Make it more expensive to switch back and forth from Oppression (and with the taxes, a hard bit cost might actually mean something).
- Remove resource shelters and natural disasters from the game entirely. No RNG shit, no arbitrary admin shit.
- Advertise on Derpi again once this is done.

Really now? Here I was, admiring some Changeling queens when my eyes fell upon yet another advertisement of a game which should have been dead by now. Was June not good enough? Are you working a full-time job just so you can pay for the website and get the satisfaction of luring poor saps into playing your game, who then act as more fuel for the drama bonfire?

Invasion FFA

Hello, I'm but a tiny player in the big silly game we call Spreadsheet Hell 2014.

Because there may still be questions, let me explain lightly how FFA got beaten, and why I really expected them to defend more effectively.

But before that, I would also like to commend Prr Wio, Life Giver, Keymaster, & Zerg; for being willing to defend countries that weren't their own at their own risk. Congratulations, I'd want you guys on my team any time.

The primary target in my attack was Eo, a Central Przewalskia that is the fourth longest active country on the server.

I observed the previous owner building statues with little capacity for defense, while being the only active Prez in FFA.

The expectation was to hit the target with a moderately large attack fleet with little forward notice, forcing the country to fight defensively until reinforcements could arrive, either creating a new Prez defense state in FFA or I would get the country type I wanted, win-win. I expected the fight to last 3-4 days, with multiple international reinforcements and had hopes that I would lose.

To increase the pressure I sent smaller attacks to related FFA countries in different regions. Selanaris, Bugfuckers, & Buckswana. The point of these attacks was to draw funds and attention away from the Eo defense.

The most interesting attack was upon Borg Storm. I knew I wasn't going to be able to take Borg Storm, but the owner is very good with diplomacy. My hope was that players with limited interest in the game would come out of stasis to donate goods, and I could expand the attack upon them while they couldn't drop back into stasis.

To my surprise, Eo fell without a fight. The forces there were split and redirected to attack the two nations that had left stasis: Foalantica & RGB Nation.

I have no idea how Bugfuckers wasn't just in stasis. Seriously. There was no fight at all and it surprised me, as I expected some basic defense against one of my smallest attack groups.

Selanaris & Buckswana defended spectacularly, Borg Storm stands just fine, and hopefully FFA has more combat understanding than they started with.

I won a few countries from it, so it was worth it from my end as well.

Neither side wants it. So why is it going on, you ask?… Because Oil is scarce. Both sides need it to live.

It would be really nice if, instead of having to buy a brand new set, you could change your weapon type (ACFU, ATFU, APFU, AUFU) via re-manufacturing. That is, you would pay the materials cost for the material that differ plus a small re-manufacturing fee.

– For example:

You have 100 AUFU, but you would really prefer to have ATFU. So you spend

One does have to wonder in this war of FFA vs the crowd (or really any sort of war) whether it's worth a ban to burn a nation anyway. I mean, spitefulness is for everyone, except admin. Surely admin is never spiteful. :P

Hey Admin, Minty just mentioned to me that outside defenders in a nation used to get kicked out if the nation owner goes stasis. Is it WAD that this isn't happening anymore?

If it's not WAD, I would have captured the nation last wartick or the one before.

It's a glitch, I say!

So, interestingly enough Admin, there's this fancy new idea called free shipping! It involves sending your desired payload to a specific country, but you do something disastrous and forget to fuel your ships, which makes you lose some ships. HOWEVER, your precious cargo seems to have parted the seas and is still going to the country!

In other words, I goofed on an upkeep i thought i could pay for transportation of my cavalry cross-region, but my forces in one of my groups is still going, even without the ships to support them. Is this a feature that no one ever knew about/let out in secret, or is this not supposed to happen at all? >:?

Compounds/CLOP interaction

I know this is almost entirely in my own benefit at the moment as one of the six people who are playing, but I think there should be more direct interaction between the two games.

In the early days of Compounds, players who ascended from CLOP with a bunch of stuff started out very well.

Now that the games are completely separate, Compounds is a ghost land, and there's no reason to migrate from CLOP on over.

I'm just saying there should be more easy ways to interact. (At the moment, I'd go specifically with the T3 elements as that is simple enough for people to acquire with the current taxes, and most people can't take the two~three month slog to get to T6)

It would be a rather nice boon to use Hope or Joy to do small things that aren't game breaking, like negate rebels, spy on Clop countries, read internal information on terrestrial alliances.

With the T4 materials people could send temporary alicorn defenses (1 tick of space alicorns at a high cost), create raw energy, or the like. Make it a one way transaction converting the Compounds control of energy and emotion into a quantifiable action in the CLOP world.

T5 and Harmony could alter the world of CLOP. Shift production of types of farms world wide up and down, cause disasters and world wide boons.

Combining elements to achieve affects would be fun and add variety to the Compound formulas. Mixing Harmony, Theft, and Magic could reduce Gem Mine production by 1.

Anyone could change the production back, but it would alter the game in ways that could be interesting and spreadsheet breaking.

And parasprite invasions.

war - suggestions

I keep thinking it'd be nice if troops were somewhat easier to maintain because the flash approach feels too much like a twitch strategy (not good planning, just fast timing).

I guess I feel like you should be able to make some preparations for future attacks without needing to be on constant high alert to flash troops as needed so you can avoid excess and sudden resource drain. As is, a modest nation that makes a sufficient defense will really open itself up for a second strike from a strong nation due to the cost of a single defense.

So, what if you could have reserve/active troops? Active troops would have the same cost as they do right now per war tick (12 hrs), whereas passive troops would not be considered defending but incur a per tick bit cost. If it's still a balance issue, perhaps there could some kind of activation cost so that there's a minor penalty for switching them to active.

Not sure how that would all work, it just feels like rich nations have an outsize power advantage which leads to the impression, when they attack, that they are toying with you rather than making a serious bid to create an empire.

Since this was a totally nonconsensual attack (If it were consensual, I'd be banning people), he has been removed from the alliance, which, of course, is no longer going to provide him any help. Since he betrayed them, and all.

This party is completely neutral in any political faction, be it the Finite Cauldron or Lunar Clients, or the Machine Orthodoxy, or FFA, or any other alliance/player that has issues with anyone.

Trading is based on equal grounds. No one player will get more based on their alliance/position than another would. The amount of trade depends on the market value price or whatever the trade is declared to be fair between whoever is involved.

Defenses shall be sent to whoever needs them. I don't care what the hell is going on, I'll step in and help somehow.

However, there is one thing I will not tolerate, and that is backstabbing of any sort in the alliance.

Started it a while back with polandball, never finished it, now its kina finished. Only supports 1 nation right now, but I dont think anyone has more that one. Once it starts happening I'll add it in.

This thing in a nutshell… It periodically checks >Clop for your stats slaps em in files, reads em and makes sure they're within the correct range, that way you can sit back and not have to worry about resources and shit like that, just leave this in the background and it will yell at you if your resources are too low.

We've had threads that only brush upon the truth eating at the heart of Clop. I've started this one to address all of the things that need to be said. Already we had the game conquered by the shadowy elite who seek nothing less than absolute subjugation once again. Think of the thread as a newspaper where I and those who share my views can discuss, for all to see, the backstabbing and plotting that goes behind closed doors.

For the first post, I'd like to discuss the dangers of a hyper deflated sugar market. With sugar at 1k a piece makes being a burro complete suffering. Others have grown wealthy by hardly having to worry about it at all, look at the top GDP producers. In a single turn they could buy up the entire 1k stock of sugar and yet they keep it low.

How will burros defend themselves when war starts? Do you not wonder what will happen when the most powerful already get their own pet Burros to wring every ounce of sugar? The game will be over before it even begins.

Who stands to gain the most by sugar being low? Already we are seeing a few standouts rising to the top. Are the villains of this game setting up a checkmate for themselves, smug that in early game 1, or 2 nations can prove unstoppable?

Feel free to post your own theories, observations and quests for the truth. This game could be made fun for all, not for the few. Do not fall within the old patterns of thinking, freedom is yours for the taking.

Any chance of a delay on that reset or some kind of in-game compensation to non-stasis'd players who currently have nations? Maybe some extra bits or bonus starting resources for the next go around?

Seeing as it takes time to build a working nation on the order of real world weeks, it's really frustrating to have to deal with the prospect of your nation being nuked out of the blue because the admin wants to "rebalance" the game or some other such shit.


Personally, in all likelihood I'm just going to quit playing post-reset. It's trouble enough keeping a virtual nation steady and even growing without admin doing the following:

+ -irregular- natural disasters with arbitrary negative results to add injury to insult (completely unpredictable and therefore no fun)
+ nominally out of the blue resets to correct perceived balance issues (without like a blog or someplace easy to find and read where the definite problems addressed by a reset are stated)
+ changing the rules and formulas when he feels like with no more than a vague mention of new features

+ possessing a general better than thou attitude and treating the players as personal guinea pigs with regard to the game (Just because you can and have the ability to doesn't mean that anyone likes it!)

Then there is generally having to deal with changing rules and a guide that's more than six months out of date which links to guide that's also very out of date.

Also, the resource market has been kind of dead for several weeks at the least.

Sequel Discussion #2: Maladaptive Behaviors Edition

(Old thread is autosaging, and no, I don't control thread limits)

Let's talk about maladaptive behaviors: behaviors that make sense to the people doing them, but have long-term ill effects on the entire game.

For example, nation building in the first game, which turns some players' activities into a weekly grind and entirely removes the need for new players at all. These unneeded new players never find an alliance, never realize that they'd do better with one, and never really take part in the politics which make the actual game.

Or the current disturbing trend in Compounds, in which one ascended player has chosen to go it alone, another ascended player has hit perma-stasis, and most other alliances aren't taking on nearly as many newbies as they could be, with some choosing to keep on perma-stasis'd members instead. Various flavors of paranoia are cited as reasons (this kind of thing is why I put in controls for who is allowed to do what).

I guess a better question would be "How do I get a bunch of friendless autists to start cooperating with each other?"

The Drums Of War

I think I'll hit Tier 5 very shortly.

Now, as soon as I do that, I can produce Mercilessness. War suddenly becomes possible. And Admin's gone to a great deal of effort to put war into the game, so it probably should get tested.

On the other hoof, I'm not really that much of an aggressive person. I'm not going to just attack anypony out of the blue without warning, or without good reason.

So I thought about this, and I came up with an idea - to allow others to start messing around with war, sometime after I hit T5 (probably sometime this coming week) I'm going to put some Mercilessness on the market.

It will be 20 Mercilessness; enough to allow an attack against any T4 player. I'll require either T3 or T4 resources in exchange (I'm not going to specify which resource in advance), and it will be expensive. Once it's sold, I'll wait a bit, and then put another batch of 20 Mercilessness on the market, at a similar or (more likely) higher price.

Of course, if I'm giving everypony the chance to attack a given T4, it's only fair to first give all the T4s a bit of warning, so they've got time to build up their defenses… hence this thread.

Nopony had any warning before I posted this. I'll wait at least a day for people to build up their defenses before putting any mercilessness on the market…

I'm going to remove production benefits from ascension on the Ides of March.

(That's March 15, for people who don't read Shakespeare.)

When I say production boosts, I mean the extra production added from ascending with a certain amount of goodies. Anyone who ascends in >CLOP after this will still be marked as ascended and will still have the right to make an alliance. However, even people who have previously ascended won't get any new boosts from their old stuff after March 15.

In other words, if you ascended in >CLOP, right now would be an excellent time to start playing Compounds.

Also, to stop anything stupid, I'm immediately implementing a cap of 70 on the production boost available from anything you do in >CLOP.
