I know this is bait but I'm gonna respond anyways because I have nothing better to do.
>Confederate Pride
It's really more like Southern pride. The Confederacy just happens to be a major part of Southern Pride.
>the whole reason for secession was because of slavery
If that's the case, why was the North so racist? They did not view blacks as equals to whites. Blacks in northern states did not have as many rights as whites. Some states had a lot of black people migrate there from the south, and when that happened those states enacted laws taking away what few rights blacks did have at the time (like the right to vote). Keep in mind that there were slave states in the north that didn't secede from the union.
>Fuck this it was about self government and freedom
But it was, partially. Slavery was the main reason of course, and we all agree that slavery was wrong. But if you read the state's constitutions you will find several reasons besides just slavery. It usually has to do with state's rights, the Federal Government failing to do its job properly, and the feeling that the Federal Government was doing several unconstitutional actions.
>A whole group of people were denied freedom
They were also denied freedom in the North as well.
Listen here, most people who are celebrated throughout history have done bad things. Would you say we shouldn't have American pride just because America has done some bad things? Should we scrap the Bill of Rights because our founding father's were hypocrites? Should the English no longer have pride in their country because of Colonialism? No. The people of these nations can be proud about the ideas and achievements of their countries. I don't see why it's wrong for us to have pride for our Southern Heritage just because the people of the Confederacy had some bad views about slavery.
>I'd also like to remind you that when you become apart of the U.S., you can't secede. It's permanent.
The U.S was permanently a part of Great Britain, but somehow they still managed to secede.
