This is a thread designated to organize militias and meet ups for Dixie.

Also, for general /k/ like discussion on what guns to get, how to survive innawoods/innaswamps/innadeserts, and what to do when SHTF.

You know as well as I do that just because something is legal in the books doesn't mean it'll receive legal recognition. Courts trash the law all the time.

Don't call them militias. They wouldn't even be militias anyways, unless y'all actually met up and trained together and stuff. Just leave it as meet up groups.

I'm down for a group in Northern VA. We can meet up, hike the battlefields, get some beer, walk around in CSA shirts, whatever.

Well what is a militia?

We are not terrorists

That sounds around what we should aim to do.

Forming a militia isn't illegal, in fact it's protected by the 2nd Amendment Right, "A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed."

There'd be nothing illegal about it. Sure we can hike the battlefields and drink beer and fish and what not, but we can also train and shoot some guns.

That's fine I suppose, but people kind of freaked out about forming a militia, but there's nothing illegal about it unless you commit illegal acts. It's an amendment, a right.

Alright, I've been reading up on Supreme Court cases on the "A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State" part of the 2nd Amendment.

Do not bring 12 gauge shotguns under 18 inches, that is illegal for militias as it has no reasonable relation to the preservation or efficiency of a well regulated militia.

That is the only weapon, that I know so far, that a militia can not use.

Just a friendly reminder not to break any laws. The FBI will likely view you all as enemies of the state and be looking to infiltrate your group and look for any excuse to deprive you of your freedom. Stand your ground and don't let anyone convince you to do something illegal. It's not illegal to believe in freedom and the authorities have no right to target you, but they will.

I highly doubt this 'militia' will be anything other than a glorified neighborhood watch. To be taken seriously you have to hold training exercises. Like going to a firing range every saturday. Then they consider you a paramilitary organization.
