What do you all think a good way to actually accomplish the goal of secession would be? obviously a petition to the federal government would be futile, so i'd think something more along the lines of petitioning our individual states or forming a political party with secession on the platform.

I'd say that the party must promise that anyone on social security or medicare will get money equivalent to what they would get from these programs normally from the U.S. I doubt there would be a lot of support from the mainstream voter if they didn't get, what they'd view as, their tax dollar's worth of these programs. Also, why not advocate constitutional amendments to limit federal power to the U.S.? I'd personally like to see an amendment that allows states to repeal any law, or any section of a law as long as the majority of state legislatures vote to do so within a limited time frame. We'd also have to not look racist, so we should advertise the benefits of secession to black people. We could also push for an amendment to allow states to secede legally, as that is not currently an option.

A petition would have the advantage of making us look good, since we wouldn't be using violence as a first resort. It's obviously not going to work, but it lets us say that we tried to get a peaceful resolution.
