To be fair global warming has been shown to not be occurring as the temperature has actually gone down over the past 15 years, as well as only going down something like .5 degrees over the past century. >It's why the people that were going on about global warming a decade ago now just say "climate change".

No, it's because if you look at different scales there are climates that will become colder (like europe in the case of the gulf stream shutting down) and other that become hotter. It's for the idiots who say "this year is colder than average, so climate warming is a hoax". While climate is defined as a period of 30 years and one or even ten years are not that important when the average of 30 years is still indicating that the average climate of the earth is rising.

If you want to attack the estimated consequences of climate change look at feedback loops and the modelling. That is where the academic discussion is at. That a system changes when you pour huge amounts of anything in it should be pretty easy to understand (like pissing in a pool and inviting your buddies to piss too, the cocks of the pool will change), but how it will change is a thing for debate.

The estimates being touted around a decade ago, during the time global warming was used, suggested average temperatures at least 10 degrees higher than we have. It was just scaremongering.

585dc5 No.137880

>>137853

>It was just scaremongering.

No.

Meteorology is a difficult field and as mentioned, the effects of certain feedback loops are not that clear. Also the climate modelling, which was used to make those predictions, were (and I guess still are) not that well developed.

Scientists are not omnipotent, they predict as good as they can, but they make sure that it is clear that these estimations can be wrong and what their problems are. Journalists and politicians use some results to push their agendas (I'm not denying that some scientists are doing the same). Scientist try to falsify everything. If it can't be disproven, it seems to be correct, until it is falsified. Everyone else wants to show off how much they know and states findings of scientists as ultimate proof.

The scaremongering was of the side of journalists and politicians. It came handy for some scientists, because finally something was happening and their warnings were not ignored. But in the end the politicians twisted their message to make stupid reforms that changed nothing for the better.

>suggested average temperatures at least 10 degrees higher than we have.

There were several scenarios. I could go on for a while what problems the models had, but as mentioned, meteorology is difficult and many things are unknown.

There are other problems that occured that were predicted, like the acidification of the oceans. You can look up the changes in pH, they fit to the change in CO2 concentration of the atmosphere. Actually it's not difficult to calculate and check that by yourself, simple equilibirum equation. It's a fact that the system changes and we make our best guesses how this will happen, but we can't predict the future.

62e498 No.137890

>>137880

The problem isn't that global warming/climate change isn't happening. It's more whether humanity or man-made involvement is the cause/significant contributor.

Unfortunately, it's such a major long scale timetable sort of method of finding out and even then has a lot more reactionary data to go by since predictions vary wildly. That and we can't expect a worldwide test and can only go "Let's try this and see what happens down the line" sort of means of fixing it. It's not like most other pollution which is small enough scale and faster to notice, like dumping chemicals in the water or air killed wildlife sort of issue.

>>137919

>Man's effect on the climate has been exaggerated in order to use climate shift as way to wield power.

It's rather a question how it should be possible that humans have no significant effect. There are studies that show that precipitation is more likely on weekends, because the smog of the working days builds up a significant aerosol concentration. Cities are known for being "hot spots" that influence the microclimate of the surrounding area. The way humans change the albedo of whole landscapes due to deforestation, infrastructure (which takes up to 2/3 of the area in cities) and buildings. I could go on for a while, but my point is we change nature to such a degree, we changed the chemistry of oceans, lakes, soils, for fucks sake, trees grow faster due to the nitrate from exhaust gases, but the climate should be unaffected? I get the feeling that people can't believe it, because the atmosphere is so huge. Yeah, right, unlike oceans… I mean the troposphere is 7 - 17 km high. That is pretty thin.

But the politicians and journalists take the focus away from the industry, which fucks up everything left and right, to the consumers, who are really insignificant. We could all recycle and use less energy, it wouldn't matter. But no one is allowed to regulate the industry because muh jobs.

Why are you bringing up acidification of the ocean?

That's supposed to be connected to the Earth b coming an increasingly hotter oven as doomsayers predicted?

Everyone knows pollution is bad, but not everyone suggests using plastic bags will melt the Earth. There's a difference between these things.

2b0eed No.138200

>>138159

>Why are you bringing up acidification of the ocean?

Because it is somethings that scientists predicted and what we can see right now. Also climate change and acidification are both caused by the change of concentrations of certain gases in the atmosphere. The acidification of the oceans results from the "desire" of water to be at equilibrium with the atmosphere, thus taking up more CO2.

The increased temperature of the atmosphere is partially due to CO2's ability to store energy. As I mentioned earlier, there are several feedback loops one have to take into account and it's not clear if some feedback loops cancel others out or even inverse the trend, but as long as we are not sure, I say better safe than sorry.

ee992d No.138557

>>138159

Because CO2 gets dissolved in the ocean, forming carbonic acid and lowering the pH of the water. For ecosystems where massive swaths of organisms rely on calcium carbonate shells and exoskeletons (which dissolve in acid), a small decrease in pH can have a massive effect, and this is already being seen.

As for what you said about it being predicted to be 10 degrees higher than it currently is, that was never a consensus view shared by the scientific community. The stories that get passed around on blogs and the popular press are always going to be the most sensationalist fringe predictions.

I assume his goal with his corperation is to make money, thus it is not a faliure.

It's possible that you can make money while failing (I don't know how this would go over in the long run, but it's possible that you're right). My comment was directed to two people who pointed out that he "ran a casino into the ground" and that he killed many of his own ventures.

What I meant was that if you're going to look at how successful his corperations are, you can't just look at if one or two corperations have failed. Even if you show that he has crashed 100 corperations, there might be 1000 which he has not crashed. You have to look at the general trends of the average corperation owned by him, rather than just the absolute number of crashed corperations.

If you want to claim it makes him incompetent, as >>139178 seems to imply, rather than just oppertunistic (or whatever you would like to call it), as you seem to claim, you also have to show that the corperations failed because of incompetence. Otherwise, I'd actually count his experience as a plus — I'd rather elect someone who is experienced with business deals and knows some of the things which makes corperations fail than someone who knows nothing about business.

Trump used to run as an independent. Back then he was pro-choice and in favor of gun control. A few years ago he changed all his positions and started running as a Republican.

At the same time he's donated millions of dollars to both Clintons over the years, as well as Harry Reid, Anthony Weiner, and numerous other Democrats. None of this is conspiracy theory, it's all documented fact, and his only answer to the charges have been "I've evolved on the issues" "I thought they would be a good senator for New York" and "I love the Clintons, I'm good friends with them."

Trump runs as a spoiler candidate, he's done this in the last two elections. He's there to draw crucial support from the other candidates. This isn't the single factor, but it's part of why Republicans have lost the last two elections. They can never rally behind a single candidate. So he draws a certain amount of support, and then bows out and doesn't endorse anybody. He said in the last debate he wouldn't endorse any of the other candidates, and if he doesn't get the nomination he might run as an independent.

So let's say 30% of the Republicans support him, despite all of this information. Then he drops out or goes independent. That's a divided voter base that isn't excited about any of the other candidates.

We saw this happen with Romney. In every poll he never got higher than second place. It went state by state, and every time there was another frontrunner something would knock them out. First there was the female candidate, can't remember her name, but she made some dumb comment about vaccines causing autism and her support evaporated. Then Herman Cain was number one for a while. Then some woman came out of the woodwork claiming he sexually assaulted her, and he was questioned about foreign policy and he revealed he didn't know where any of the countries in the Middle East were and his support evaporated. For a sliver of time Newt Gingrich was the frontrunner, then he made some comments people didn't like and his support dwindled. And on it went until Romney was simply the last man standing, and you had a bunch of dispassionate voters going "Well, I *guess* I'll vote for him."

The news media hate Trump so much that they want him to get on his knees and apologize to them already. And he's laughing his ass off and having fun.

While I won't vote for Trump, he's definitely an IRL Troll and not a lolcow.

this. and its not like he isn't trying to make himself look good. he is. thats what the fake tan, botox and hair dye is for. thats what the fancy suits and the shoes are for. he's trying and miserably failing. he looks awful.

Trump is a fucking amazing troll candidate. If he gets elected, the country is gonna burn, but at least we'll go down laughing.

I will say that the /pol/ support of him is massively hypocritical. Trump's really pro-Israel, >b-but all the candidates have to suck circumcised cock

Somewhat true, but Trump goes the extra mile. He straight up endorsed Netanyahu's re-election, even though he wasn't currently considering an office run.

I'll admit it took a while for me to get on board with Trump but by God he's finally won me over.

He's a reality TV star. No wonder he's good at campaigning.

Trump is a weird mix of a troll and a cow. He's trolling the left hard but at the same time he once tried to sue Bill Maher because he was butthurt that he called his mother an orangutan.

You have to be a bit of a cow to be a great troll, though. If you can't be bothered by stupid shit, how can you really fuck with people. Also, can't Stump the Trump.

This thread is a great history of the Trumpening.

Posting in December when there are no more anti-Trump shills, and the jews are no longer laughing.

c3e5dd No.186854

I'm too lazy to read the thread or find the pics, but basically I came here to say that Trump appears to have turned quite a few liberal media commentators into lowlcows. There's some "before/after" trump image that comes up on /pol/ from time to time.

I genuinely believe that there's at least a half dozen relatively high profile lolcows ripe for the julaying. The intensity is reaching its peak, so /cow/ might want to get interested in this soon.

I hadn't visited /cow/ in months and came around and saw this thread, read the whole thing, and was disappointed. /pol/ supports the troll candidate and personal god of Patrick Bateman while /cow/ is talking about wanting to vote for Bernie and Hillary and babbling about climate change like parrots? Fucking shoot me, you put it nicer than me anon, I didn't realize this board was full of no fun liberal faggots.

A couple of faggots don't speak for all of us. Besides, it looks like the berniecucks fucked off months ago.

chanology was a mistake

i'm voting trump because your vote literally has no worth and the next president will be decided by party leaders and their corporate liaisons

so i might as well vote for the guy that makes liberals cry.

78c9dc No.186978

You know whats ironic? I had to stand that dumbfuck retard bush for most of my teens and yet I would vote trump in a second because the libtards that came with obama and are currently holding the entire western hemisphere hostage are a billion times worse than aughts neocons were

And yes I'm aware it will probably backfire as bad as obama did

I pity those who have just tuned into his campaign.

It's been months of banter and IRL shitposting from Trump against the other candidates, news media, and anyone else who tried to step up against him.

Just wait until next year, it's going to be good; links related, it's shitposts disguised as campaign ads.

Is Trump and GG the universal boogeyman of retards? I mean, you have people just mentioning them for no apparent reason whatsoever. J.K. Rowlin g had to make a few statements on how Trump is apparently worse than Voldemort, despite Voldemort being pretty much Wizard Hitler while Trump is shit stirrer.

Another funny thing is that the standard SJW crew is now obscenely butthurt about "Islamophobia" now. People calling out the whole situation in Britain where police officers let pedos and slavers run free while arresting parents to not seem racist. Apparently it is white supremacy to be against pedophiles and rapists if they are muslim. Also Milo is now considered not gay as he is homophobic for making fun of how hypocritical that GX3 event is.
