>That's the thing about mental illness. If you take it seriously and treat it like an actual medical condition - in the same way you'd treat a broken leg or a burn wound - generally they won't interfere with your life whatsoever and you'll live a completely normal life.

The brain is an organ like any other. You got something wrong with your tooth, you go to a tooth doctor. You got something wrong with your butt, you go to a butt doctor. You got something wrong with your brain, you go to a brain doctor.
I got autism. It sucks. I've gone to doctors to get it diagnosed, and to programs to help treat it. It's a thing my brain has, not much I can do about it, there's no known medication that helps it. Alcohol takes the edge off, at least.
It's not a very well defined area of medicine compared to pretty much everything else, but progress is gradually being made.

This could get kinda funny if self-diagnosing with mental illnesses is in itself a mental illness.
