Nobody was claiming avgn invented reviewing. His style however was absolutely unique for the time, any internet reviewer back then was just a vlogger with a shitty web camera ranting from the top of his head.
Avgn was one of the innovators of the concept of a character that reviews stuff following a script and has related wacky adventures in the process. It was more like watching a web series rather than just a review, in circa 2006 there wasn't much else like that. Hence why he's actually important as so many people try and copy him, hell, the entire Channel Autism was created to ride off his success.
As for faggotraptor, he got his main influx of subscribers in mid 10s when many channels akin his with those shitty "comedy animations" became very hip and accumulated great number of subs. I'm not surprised normalfags think him some scholar, despite him not knowing literally anything about gaming which he demonstrated on game grumps on countless occasions, as all you need to do to impress them is point out something obvious and in plain sight, like basic level structure, which they couldn't figure out on their own and therefore worship anyone who revealed to them the truth that orange teal is pleasant on your eyes. All accompanied by that cancerous brand of his "humor" and voila.
