A lesser-known/observed part of Tumblr, probably because of how relatively tight-knit the community is. Various bloggers on Tumblr have an unusual fascination with "true crime" - particularly the Columbine shooters Dylan Klebold and Eric Harris, Dylann Roof, some serial killers and mass murderers of late (a more recent example being Richard Ramirez) being noteworthy examples. These blogs range from informative (being micro-documentaries of various factoids and pictures of the crimes), to humorous (to the point where the community has its own memes), to downright disturbing (some of these people, particularly the Columbiners, are borderline obsessed with their subjects - knowing almost every available detail about their personal lives and the events leading up to the shooting).
Being interested in the subject of crime and wanting to know more about the nature behind shootings as well as the motives behind them, I was curious to see what these blogs were like. I was surprised to find out that most of them were run by underage girls and boys, and to see Klebold and Harris in a much more humanistic light than almost any other account shows them in. I'll spare you my personal thoughts, but with Sue Klebold's recent appearance on 20/20 these blogs have been surging and resurging. I thought true crime was just a niche hobby/interest on Tumblr but it seems their numbers are larger than I thought. Enough civility, have some pics.
