GMO foods are shit but whatever people want to eat is up to them.

I don't consider selective breeding genetic modification in the same sense that chemical modification is.

If thats what you meant.

Also I eat meat but I respect vegans for their dedication.

fair enough,that's all I ask for.gmos imho are the only way were ever gonna support pop growth as it is,organic produces 1/4 of what a well vetted gm can in the same space with fewer resources required to grow them.though i will admit monsanto a SHIT.they make most of their money by suing hapless farmers around wherever some of their gmo stuff was planted and cross pollination occurred.gmos should me modded to be sterile on the back end to prevent crospolination into the wild.

693922 No.23

>>22

Yeah, thats my main problem with gmos is that Monstanto is attempting to create a monopoly on vegetables/fruits. I'm into the free market, if people want to buy and sell whatever they should be allowed to, but the over-regulation in markets causes these giant corporations who don't give a shit about people to run the entirety, and we're only given the option of buying from them because they are the only ones who can afford to pass the regulations. It's fuckin shitty. The free market regulates itself, if someone has immoral practices you don't have to buy from them because there would be a thousand other sellers who are doing things differently, but as it stands we're forced to buy from monsters.

34924f No.25

>>23
very much this.and thats one of the issues with gm,it costs an inane amount to do,and well,only shit llike monsanto has the cash to do it and they want to keep it that way.gm coulkd save the world,but with monopilys like monsanto it may very well damn it.hopefully science makes some breakthroughs to cheepen it on the back end so one can do it at a production greenhouse setting or slightly above,any sistem thats sub 2 million,the same as a cost for a micropropigation startup.till then monsanto has evryone by the nads.

there would haven't ever been a civil conversation like this on /evilck/ in nazichan

8d6b9a No.31

also you two, remember (not trying to recruit you into veganism (unless your interested) BUT: if we stopped eating animals (which are the ones who have INSANE amounts of crops dedicated to just their feed) we could actually all survive on organic crops, no problem.

amounts of plants that people eat vs amounts of plants that animals eat:
>people:||||||
>animals:|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

so therefor if people didn't eat animals and animals didn't need to be fed constantly, then:
>animals:||
>people:||||||||||||||||||||||||||| = enough for us to eat without eating animals + we also get to eat it organic.

it is true,but getting proteins and some certain amino acids that are normally gotten from meat are a bitch to get otherwise,but chickens are enough for that,or even insects,seriously.
cows though are just plain whacked for resourse to resulting food ratios and no matter what way you put it are just plain stupid inefficient.chickens on the other hand are low cost for a resource to result ratio,insects even more so,actually being MORE efficient than raising the plants to feed them in the first place.
and it can only go up with proper gm crops and management.if your gonna eat meat go for chicken or pork,and avoid beef like the plague,it's worse for you and its just plain torrid as explained above.

err,didnt notice the organic addendum,there not enough arieable land in the wotrld good enough for food crops to produce enough organic for current pop growth even if EVERYONE went vegan.it produces so little that before the craze for "health" it was financial suicide,still is due to greater suceptibility to deases and therefore of have a full crop destroyed.full crop destroyed=your whole paycheck for the year gone and a net loss in the tens of thousands.one bad year is enough to bankrupt a farm or grenhouse.gm is a lot less scary once you understand it from a sientific point.I was antigm before i started taking my greenhouse courses and our teacher made us do a writeup on them.its quite fascinating.all it is is using science to speed up what we've been doing for hundreds of thousands of years.
frankly all food we eat in the first place is gm(see the vid,though its a bit harsh and heavyhanded)

>not enough land
That's where vertical farming comes in. I actually had that idea when I was a kid, plants in skyscrapers, and now it's an actual thing.

>>31
I'm mostly herbivorous, I just like a little meat every now and again. I'd prefer if I killed it myself, as the current system feels very impersonal, but that's why I don't eat a fuckload of meat.

34924f No.38

vertical farms would be massive greenhouses.and by the usda definiton of organic it means feild grown only,greenhouse produced stuff is aparently not "organic" and "healthy" enough.organic in genral often goes full retard.even then it would take insanly tall skyfarms to do organic just to maintain let alone sustain pop growth.organic just cant keep up with the ever gowing demand for food.

well i'm no fan of the USDA. Most of the time those labels are just glorified marketing techniques. I like the non-gmo-project labels but i'm not even sure that that is reliable. Everything is kind of fucked.

34924f No.40

>>39
very very fucked.its one of the reasons im not a fan of "organic" as its in the end one big marketing sham.and risky one at that that threatens global food supply stability.

You're both being really negative, I'm confident the entire world could survive on organic vegan food with the land we have, and if you're still worried we have hydroponics as well.

additionally you should also not underestimate plant based sources of protein as there's a huge variety. lentils,beans,nuts,seeds there are many choices.

>>39
>>38
I kind of slightly agree with you two. I don't like the USDA or the FDA because they are really stupid. I like USDA Organic because its the best option I have right now, but If I had my own clean and fertile land I would grow all my own food to my standards far above and beyond organic. also, I don't have a problem with greenhouse skyscrapers, as long as the hygienic standards are very high and poison/pesticides/garbage is kept out and away from the crops, while they are fed and cared for with high quality ingredients and love.

>>40
I don't agree with this. I don't like everything the USDA does and I think they are retarded. However, Organic (or bio) food is the best thing we have right now, and it is a very very important good thing to have around while evil things like monsanto and other corporations exist.

Organic is a very good option in an ocean of terrible ones. imagine how horrible it would be if organic simply didn't exist!? only monsanto SCUM would be available for purchase at the store.

honestly I rather grow all my own food, but I don't have the freedom, the clean fertile land, the safety, none of that.

I would love to fly away to my own planet and make a nice home for myself, with defense satellites in case monsanto builds a space ship and tries to visit me with some wonderful business deal.

I read this again
>im not a fan of "organic" as its in the end one big marketing sham.and risky one at that that threatens global food supply stability.

and I'm considering calling you a huge idiot now that my anger has grown.

this is the type of post from that other chan's /ck/ that would almost lead me to believe that a shill is behind it.

why would you criticize organic without at least saying how nice of a choice it is compared to the disgusting evil scum that is gmo corporations? they make alot of stupid decisions but what do they do so wrong that would lead you to believe that ORGANIC is ruining the world and not monsanto? seriously?

peace though.

693922 No.44

I pretty much wholeheartedly agree with you. When people tell me what I want to do(with my life), my answer makes me really uncomfortable. I just want to have some land and grow my own food and do nothing besides live. Don't get me wrong, i'd do other things besides grow food and lay around, but I don't want to do something 'for a living'.

Grow my own food, grow my own drugs, have a fuckin enjoyable life rather than toil for 40 hours a week to just barely survive.

34924f No.45

>43
i beleive BOTH are shitty options m8 monsanto is scum,but organic is unsustainable from production standpoint.and this is coming from a person being trained to grow food for a living.im the greenhouse tech feggit.

>"organic is unsustainable from production standpoint"

My shill detector is going through the roof but I will politely disagree.
