It's really retarded that Valve went to such extreme lengths as to post the full names of everyone involved and banned on the official blog.

Yet when a professional player gets VAC banned, or makes a lot of money on a match streamed after it was played (see: LDLC and VP), nothing happens.

Unfortunately this is not Valve stepping up and doing something so much as the community being composed of people who take skins more seriously than the game.

"Integrity and Fair Play" my ass. This game is so difficult to like.

There are several other instances in the past of match fixing for ez skins that were caught but had little punishment dealt by anyone, certainly not Valve, but the game was smaller then. Now that the game is the second most played game on Steam you end up with a lot more pressure from the community for Valve to bring down the hammer on match fixing, which is often the #1 cause of competitive scenes in other games being killed off.

Do you really think it is OK for a major team like iBUYPOWER to throw matches so they can win several thousand dollars in skins? If this were commonplace it would mean no one would take the competitive scene seriously, and would damage the popularity of the game.

I don't think it's okay for anyone to throw. I think Valve needs to step up and ban everyone who throws.

So, throwing a game is ok, unless you do it for skins?

Steel has been linked to another case of match fixing.

And now GMX says his team (ScreaM, fxy0, pm, and Uzzziii) threw an ESEA match against Epsilon.

CSGO Lounge says there were suspicious looking bets.

The ride still never ends.

>stopped betting and playing after the matches I bet on kept getting cancelled/forfeited/postponed/DDoSed and half the matches that actually went through looked sus as fuck even when I won skins from them
>all this shit finally happening
So when is that russian team whose name I forget going to get done.

It's true. I'm polish and I love Virtus, but I still feel disgust after what they did and after how little of a backlash they got

What valve basically did is gave those guys the biggest punishment they could think of and hoped it will serve as an example and prevent others from doing it.
