Do only noobs play quick matching(or whatever it's called).
Whenever I play on a quick match server I don't even need to try to top frag. But when I join a community server like for example retake or competitive the players seem to be on a whole other level.
If community server is were it's at then why even bother to buy a knife to show off? Because you'll get a knife skin anyways.
Am I doing myself disservice by playing on quick match servers just so I can top frag without even trying?
I just want to get gud and rank up.

Uh, you need to clarify if you are playing casual or competitive. From your description, it sounds like you were matchmaking on casual, which is a lot more relaxed and free form, people just do whatever they want.
Matchmaking on competitive is a lot more focused on actually winning the match, at least if you are Nova ranks and above.
Community servers can be whatever they want. Some are casual, some are competitive, some are mods and other game modes, etc. You get to be in control of where you go.
