So CS:GO is my first CS game and I've played about 400 hours(including fucking around on community servers) and I have 149 competitive wins but I'm only a SEM. Am I just shitty at the game or average?

I was silver 4 for about 150 games. Changed my mouse settings and did more deathmatch games to improve my reaction time and aim. Also started buying more kits and to defuse faster, and getting as many MVP's as possible.

I'm now at gold nova II.

Don't give up anon I was SEM for about 400 hours too, thought I'd never get out and that I was stuck in my rank. Fifty hours later I'm GNM. Don't lose hope, get a shit ton of MVPs and top frags.

I was first ranked gold nova after winning 10 games and I don't even really like the game all that much and am not very good at it.

SEM to GN1 is somewhat of a jump, just play HS only deathmatch until you can sort of aim and watch 30 min instructional videos on youtube on strategy

I started off at Master Guardian I.

Now I'm stuck in a never-ending loop where Valve alternates me between Gold Nova Master and Master Guardian I.

Whenever I'm GNM, I get top score in my team, and get promoted to MG1. Then whenever I'm MG1, the opposing team is always completely stacked and my team gets rolled liked 2-16, and I get demoted back to GNM where it's way too easy for me.

Fucking ridiculous.

Hours doesn't really matter. MGE I'd say could be described as "average." Not a scrub, but not a pro.

I rarely play Comp because the risk of a shitty team and cooldowns (either from retards getting in your way to fuck with you, or potential votekicks) but I got out of silver in 20 wins.

Only play Comp when you're playing with at least 1 friend. The more friends on your team the better chance you have. Ranking up depends on MVP stars.

Started as mg1, 1400 hours later and im LEM.

Though i dont play MM much, RWS on ESEA is between 16-19 at the moment.

Also, csgo does not use the elo ranking system, instead it uses a heavily modified version of the glicko-2 system. Iv'e found that the most important things you need for rank up are simply a decent KD/R, MVP stars and Wins, get those three things and you're golden.
