"Overused goods" is a ridiculous way of thinking about life experiences. Having traveled to a lot of places at a young age doesn't make you somehow damaged goods, instead it expands your horizons and lets you find out what you really want from life – why should living your sexuality openly (but safely) be any different.

I think part of this meme is people with little sexual experience being intimidated by people with lots of experience because they are afraid of having missed out or being worse at it, so they come up with some puritan moral justification why not sleeping around is better. No offense meant, I was in a similar boat myself once.

As people mature, I've found many become less judgmental – don't worry about not finding anyone for a relationship at 30 because you did what you wanted to do when you were younger. Most queer people haven't "settled down" by then.

I can't speak for that anon, though for me it's less about number of life experiences as it is about the types of choices made. Having a lot of sexual partners is not an issue for me if it was responsible, but doing things like having a lot of unprotected sex with strangers or going to bath houses or other shit like that makes someone really undesirable to me as a potential partner, even if it was in the past.

If someone committed a bunch of crimes or did a lot of bad things to people in the past, then I don't want to be with them in the present. I'll qualify that by saying that within reason mistakes can be the best teachers and I'm not equating sexual experience with things most people would find inherently bad. There are just certain things that are dealbreakers for me.

I prefer committed relationships, but it has nothing to do with morality and everything to do with practicality. Sex with condoms isn't sex to me, and the only way to have safe bareback sex is in an exclusive relationship. I also have no need to have sex with more than one man as long as my boyfriend is sufficiently attractive.

The problem isn't that casual sex is wrong; the problem is that safe casual bareback sex is nearly impossible.

I'm not sure I agree with you. I probably wouldn't want to be in a relationship with a person who has been wont to having unromantic sex with multiple people, not because I'm judgmental but because I would find it difficult to trust them. I don't quite understand why, but the idea of being in a relationship with a person who has sex with people other than myself is a very depressing thought. I just want to be with someone whom I could devote the entirety of my affection to, and I would want that devotion to be reciprocated. Obviously that can't work if I don't trust that the other person really is devoted in the same way that I am.
