>torrents are for faggots
The alternatives have historically all died out. Rapidshare, Megaupload, you name it. All the "reliable" alternatives don't last long now, but torrents? They're with us since Kazaa, LimeWire and Ares were a thing. All graveyards now. Torrents still work, and you'll even find some decade-old torrents with seeds.
Moreover closed networks suck too, because while there's usually better content, they depend on single parties that may or may not be there tomorrow. Distributed Hash Tables don't need anybody's permission to run.
Magnet links are the future, my friend. Not because they'll be better than the rest, but because they will still work, and the rest won't.
