Shenzhen

Most tech heavy industrial city in the world. Filled with hacker spaces and workshops on the cutting edge of technology.

If you speak Chinese you can easily find work as a tech firms token Gweilo.

> I don't speak Chinese. is it a hard language to learn?

Chinese is one of the hardest languages for native English speakers to learn. It is a category 5 language with little similarity with English.

http://www.effectivelanguagelearning.com/language-guide/language-difficulty

Luckily modern language learning is much easier than it used to be. You can get far using Anki, Skype and grammar books. Anki allows you to memorise words quickly and there are lots of Chinese speakers who will trade Chinese lessons for English lesson on Skype for free.

I don't suggest going over to China without knowing the language or having any ancillary skills as the only jobs available would be teaching English.

There are lots of English Language Speakers who travel to China (or any Asian country) to teach English without knowing the native language and they are generally considered scum by the locals, failures who couldn't cut it in their own country and had to leave.

I find it pretty easy. My parents tried to make me learn it and, even when younger me hated the idea of learning, I learned to read+write and sorta speak it enough to get by. I stopped because everyone realized I was miserable learning it.

I picked up the basics in a half-year course. It's an asshole language, that's for sure, but it's still easier for an English speaker to pick up than something like Korean.

I'd suggest Kansas City on top of that; the gentrification that's been hitting the west coast has caught up here in the midwest. I've found that lots of californians have been moving to KCMO in recent years. It's weird; our mayor has gone so far to say that the city has become a cross between Chicago and San Fransisco. There was a lot of backlash when the City almost derezzed Uber from operating here; http://kcmo.gov/news/2015/city-announces-ordinance-changes-supporting-tech-based-vehicles-for-hire/

I figured, but Seattle and Kansas City are some of the fastest growing tech hubs in the states outside of Silicon Valley; both are pretty high tech low life places to live if one so desired.

>speak chinese

Ugh, this is one of my pet peeves. You can't "speak chinese," any more than you can "speak european." Mandarin and Cantonese have less in common than Spanish and Portuguese have (someone who only speaks one cannot understand the other without a fuckton of linguistic gymnastics), yet you don't call THOSE the same language, do you? Hell, even people who speak Cantonese can't speak Toishan, or even understand it in many cases, and that's usually just viewed as a dialect of Canto.

The only way you could possibly refer to "Chinese" as a language is if you're referring to the written language, which is the same across all the Chinese languages, but only because it's not phonetic the way the Latin alphabet is.

Those people are about as anti-tech as the yuppies were punks; they're against the assholes wanting to get a quick buck over class warfare by forcing people from the homes and jacking the prices up in anticipation for new residents. "Techie" is synonymous with "Yuppie" these days and that's the one thing people like you don't seem to understand about this; http://techcrunch.com/2014/04/14/sf-housing/

It's happening nearly everywhere these days, tho.

>implying 99% of those anti-tech frisco shazbots didn't do the exact same thing with previous black and hispanic tenants

Its the pot calling the kettle black, frisco and seattle were already gentrified the problem is that people with even more brouzouf are moving in, so boo-hoo

On the other hand consider how frisco has literally nothing but tech to keep it afloat, its no longer a major trade hub, all industries closed back in the 80s and even the famous naval base that provided a lot of maintenance jobs to civilians its gone

If tech leaves frisco it will end up a shithole like detroit, and I say good riddance to those whiny fags and dykes
