Lately i've been getting super into internet radio. I feel like it's a somewhat cyber way to get your news, what with fewer FCC regulations than actual radio, and if you dig deep enough you can find stations not slaved to the megacorp/botnet/government-controlled media.

Does anyone here listen to online radio stations? If so, post the links and descriptions for 'em.

 No.27461

post some good ones yourself chummer because it sounds interesting

I kinda dig what Free Radio Santa Cruz stands for… music's not very cyber, but sometimes they've got the news going on there and the fact that they were originally a pirate radio station is very onboard with the punk bit of cyberpunk

 No.27473

also found a California-based (i think) tech radio show, lotsa scitech news and geeky shit here

 No.27513

>>27511

Pretty much every media player will take them. Including mplayer.

 No.27514

>>27488

Awesome.

Thats the first time I'm listening to this kind of radio, let alone a tech/cyberpunk themed one.

Can someone give me a quick explanation of how these are done ? Are they on all the time ? I'd love to use mplayer + cron to log in with it.

 No.27515

>>27514

>log in with it.

HAHA I meant log in with it wtf.

Log in kinda works tho, pretty cyber

 No.27516

>>27515

FFS I mean log in with it, why can't I say that right

 No.27517

 No.27528

So does mplayer, I just tried it.

kek, they're christians.

I'm moving over to partyvan

 No.27534

I have my favorite local radio station I listen while driving, and I listen to it trough the internet when home, because this is 21st century and why the fuck would I need a radio in my house when I got internet. Well, actually, I have an old radio, but it's still more convenient to listen trough the net.

 No.27538

>>27464

>>27474

Oh fuck, that's good.

 No.27540

>>27538

Can't get this one to work…

But so far everything else is pretty good

 No.27541

>>27540

Did you try opening it in VLC under network stream? That's what I'm doing.

 No.27546

File: 1436738626408.jpg (79.9 KB, 485x622, 485:622, nope.jpg)

>>27541

I don't have vlc installed, mplayer is usually enough for what I do but I might try your suggestion later.

 No.27547

>>27546

Try MPV, a fork of mplayer.

 No.27558

I usually listen to Di.fm and Soma.fm.

I also like Red Bar Radio.

 No.27565

>>27513

Any special configuring that needs to be done for mplayer?

 No.27568

>>27565

mplayer -playlist 'url' works on pretty much all the links in this threads so far, only lainchan gives me trouble

 No.27571

>>27568

Okay, got it to work. Fucking schway.

 No.27589

Weird, I've been using Quod Libet for all the streams so far with no problems, but as soon as I try to add murdercube.com:8080/stream.m3u

It says "unknown url type", followed by saying that no internet radio streams were found at the address.

 No.27590

>>27589

To anyone else having problems with /k/ radio, I was able to get it to work by first downloading the m.3u and then pointing Quod Libet at it directly. Using ~ for my home didn't work so I had to type in the whole path. Just lettin' ya know.

 No.27638

>>27590

For anyone using VLC, just put the stream link into VLC, then go to file>save playlist as>and save it as a .M3U file

/k/ radio is god tier, especially their livestream news reports and their Skyking drills

 No.27707

>>27706

Erhk, I couldn't even get passed the website's main page.

>Metal Mondays (metal and assorted rock)

>Troop Tuesdays (military marches)

>Vietnam Wednesdays ('Nam music intermingled with ambient war sounds)

>Classical Thursdays (Classical music)

and on… whenever I need a laugh I might give it a try

 No.27711

>>27707

That's just the daytime/weekday programming to keep the plebs out. A lot of their stuff is really good and informative

 No.27714

>>27706

Nice, when do they broadcast news? I'm not really interested in listening to the archives. It loses its charm when it's not happening live. I know it happens Mondays, but it doesn't say when.

 No.27716

>>27714

>Every week, we also release a news bulletin which goes over that week's military, technology, and weapons related news. Click on "news bulletin" in the banner to listen to our news segments.

Sounds to me like they only release them on soundcloud, they don't broadcast them live.

 No.30127

I've been listening a lot to Soma FM the past week, they have a lot of good, cyber-ish playlists/channels on there.

Not him(or her), but I'm listening to it now. The link didn't work in VLC, but its up on the actual site.

I like rainwave.cc, mostly the OC Remix, but chiptune and classic VG music is cool.

>tfw Shoutcast with an MP3 license

brouzouf is nice, but it's not cyber.

It was pretty easy to set up though, I just had to write up a quick init script for auto-start since my VPS provider likes to do rolling restarts.

http://mutantradio.org

We're a music based radio station that plays basic /mu/core when there's nobody specific streaming, other than that anyone can go on there at any time and stream basically whatever the fuck they want, we don't care. IRC information is on there, and if you are wanting to stream you want to go there and talk to one of the mods/experienced streamers because 1. a mod has to give you voice before you can start a stream, and 2. the server information on the main website isn't as reliable as getting it directly from an experienced streamer for the station.

If you like good housemusic. None of that afrojack or david guetta noise. It`s not slaved to the megacorp/botnet/government-controlled media. By lovers, for lovers, proper underground.

Other than that I like Soma fm.

I've been getting into podcasts lately.

I really fucking love Dan Carlin's Hardcore History and Common Sense. Stuff You Should Know is okay too, but nowhere near as good as Dan Carlins shit.
