>Lainchan made a zine

Shit, niggas, we gotta step up our game.

 No.29938

Wow, you're late.

Also, we're lainchan.

Lainchan is love, lainchan is life.

 No.29940

>>29928

really, as 8ch boards go, /cyber/ is one of the best.

I don't know whether to be proud or sad.

 No.29964

This board is far too fragmented to actually make a zine. Lainchan are united in that they're pretty much all freetards.

 No.29965

Lainchan is ass

 No.29971

>>29965

This. Authoritarian mods, and censure of comments. Not free.

I used to help them, but kalyx (aka macfag adm) is a asshole and childish.

If you guys want to do a short film, I can help a lot (I'm [almost] graduated in photography).

 No.29972

>>29971

Which country are you located in? If US, which region?

 No.29973

>>29972

Brazil… yep, that's the problem.

But we could do a distributed work.

 No.29975

Don't we have a guy who posts /cyber/news? Just get a couple of chombas writing an article or two. I can drawfag some writeshazbotry you guys have and we can have a lil' thing

 No.30010

>>29965

>constant shitposting in general

>constant /pol/ shitposting

>constant infighting and Linux nazi drama

>'hay guise is dis saibur? :DD'

>dozens of fashion and music threads

>on top of all this, a continuing drop in usership

Yeah, 8chan and /cyber/ are so much better. But muh "freedom" right?

 No.30011

>>30010

>Implying I said 8ch is perfect

Nigger I hate so much of /cyber/ there's so much shazbotry with any -punk. The Cyberpunk Review Forum is one of the only communities I think is perfect. But /late/ is a perfect 8ch board/

 No.30012

>>30011

My point is that while Lainchan may have more mod drama bullshit (I can't attest to this myself since I've not lurked on Lainchan very much) and less posters than 8chan, there does also seem to be an overall higher level of quality because no normalfags or stormshazbots or halfchanfags or gamergatefags (or gamer shazbot corpcucks in general) would ever find their way to as niche a *chan as Lainchan.

/late/ is nice, but like every single good board on 8chan, it gets hardly any traffic. That's the problem with this website. There's a lot of great potential for thousands of different boards and a flourishing, labyrinthine imageboard community, but this potential will never be realized. The most 8chan has ever accomplished is being a refuge for butthurt stormfags and gamergatefags, with a smaller amount of other anons fed up with halfchan's bullshit following along and forming their own half-dead boards. At least early on, 8chan made up for this with an overall level of quality to usership ratio unlike anything English language imageboards have seen since the early days of 4chan, but that's rapidly going away. This site is turning to pure shit, and even the niche boards like /cyber/ that I used to love are turning to shit.

We will never accomplish something like this. This is /cyber/

Everyone else in this thread sounds like christians screaming about the second coming. /cyber/ has always been about like this. At first there was hope that this board could become something and when it didn't it just transitioned straight to pessimism and the same sort of talk happening on this thread right now.

>It's becoming shit!!!

It was never much better than this. Accept it.

 No.30049

I still love you /cyber/

 No.30051

Longtime cyber lurker and occasional poster /cyber/ is pretty great honestly

Everyone should be proud of what it is and I've enjoyed it

>that game

>those peripherals

WHEN!?!?!

 No.35392

I used to like lainchan, then kalyx changed the image with rules to some random chick taking the biggest dick ever. Like how fucking irrelevant, I expected better from lainchan. Then again, at the same time I wasn't expecting much from lainchan.

 No.35525

>>29928

I mean, we could do something.

But we should start building a culture.

Some basic stickie with enough material to understand the basic premise, then you'd have less

>guiz whats cyber lmao? xD

threads.

Share information, we can discuss and decide™ what kind of guides and reading lists/must-see sources to include and then work on a project like that.

Besides, too many codemonkeys obfuscate the script.

 No.35656

>>29928

What /cyber/ needs to do is build up a base of quality threads. Stuff like teaching people to code, how to browse privately, diy and electronics tutorials, book discussion & recommendation, et cetera. There's no point in aping Lainchan and besides, most users here are Lainchan denizens anyway.

>>30010

The last point is what will save us from all the rest. The higher /cyber/ climbs up the rankings, the more it draws in general population who aren't interested in cyberpunk, but are instead here for /pol/ or /gg/ or to visit that cool site Buzzfeed told them was "too extreme for 4chan". Over time, they'll drop off and post quality will rise.

 No.35657

>>35656

I completely agree. I say we have a thread on three popular, useful and sane programming languages covering the basics like if, loops and variables.

Another thread on compiling.

Another thread on bash and scripting.

Fuck it, why don't we make a Wiki?

 No.35660

I'm a drawfag/artistfag as well, if you want to do something just let me know if I can help

 No.35661

>>35660

You know, just draw pixelated workplace with crashed cans and food wraps and glowing monitor. I mean old-school bitmap art.

 No.35696

>>35657

Wikis take people to actually write, that said there was a cyberpunk wiki (that I could swear shared the name "cyberlife" with jintek). In terms of programming, there are a million and one programming language tutorials on the internet, I suppose another one wouldn't hurt, but if I were to spend time writeing one, I would want a reason that the other tutorials weren't good enough. I may write something on higher level programming stuff since I know it's a lot harder to find outside of educational materials.

 No.35720

I'm in school for ui/ux design… Have you guys thought about doing an HTML or an e-zine or something like that.

I'm pretty good with print. But I'm better online.

>Not doing a zine in the style of the olden masters

 No.35727

>>35696

Now, one thing that could use writing is something outright cyber. Seeing how "how to hack the computer" is a pretty bullshit thing, what about setting up own communication channels, or something cyber you can do with one of those arduino/raspberry computers?

 No.35970

>>35723

That is doable.Looks fucking sick too.

 No.36004

>>35970

im into it, how would we start?

 No.36015

>>36004

techfags find something you know about, and write an article about it.

artfags start doing whatever it is you do

after ~6-8 is articles and some art someone (or I) will compile it into a zine.

If anyone wants start on some art, I'll write something about compression and searching for byte sequences in compressed data. I could use a stylized KMP search image, and maybe something symbolizing data compression

After typing that, I tried to find an image of KMP but couldn't find one I liked, I'll try to draw something real quick in gimp

You know, fuck it, I'm in. I was thinking of contributing to their Zine to be nice but they deleted my /tech/ thread for a SICP VN Character Design Contest. I'll help organize/edit the Inifintyzine. Send me your articles at sicpvn@cock.li and we'll pump something good out in the next month or two. If anybody else wants to help organize it let me know. I'm glad to help but I have a few projects already… but damn me if I won't help get an Infinityzine up and running just to give them a big fuck you!

Here we go

>>36027

Get back to work on that VN! Those weebs won't educate themselves!

 No.36031

>>36029

Thanks for noticing the VN. I just spent the larger part of the evening setting up the contest. There are many things that you have to specify in the contest rules if you don't want to be prosecuted for a misdemeanor in my country. So far we are in full compliance with all state and federal laws. If you want to participate, check out the thread on /tech/, depending on the participation rate you might make fifty dollars or more, easy.
