Hey. I'm looking at hosting a scrim server for battlecode. I'm just probing for interest, and want to ask if any of you guys are involved in similar AI challenges/projects/competitions.

> Java and Scala.

Man, if only these chummers ran something I gave a fuck to learn.

actually am seasoned Java dev but ditched that shit after Oracle went nuclear on APIs. Got some scala under my belt, but that "it's objects all the way down!" is a big WHY? It's like if Smalltalk screwed Java and the resultant hierarchical hydra is too busy trying to impress the Lisp crowd to run its homework.

It's too bad Core War isn't hipster enough for MIT.

CoreWars is so old and simple though that they made programs that could evolve extremely good warriors. Not that it's a bad game or anything, it's just that I don't feel like it's worth pouring time into.

I am interested, also this

https://herox.com/CognitiveComputing It'd be awesome to tackle this challenge with people from /cyber/ino

God, I would't even know where to begin. Parsing text to get key points like person-year associations, sure, but jesus, analyzing something more complex than that? No wonder there's so much brouzouf in it.

 No.32160

>>32144

I'd be totally willing to help.

 No.32201

Count me in. I'm taking an ai class at uni right now and its schway as fuck.

 No.32235

CS -related undergrad here, I'm in for whatever. Classes this semester are lighter than I expected and I find myself with a little extra time to spare.

I'll make the logo

 No.32320

not OP but I'm the guy who wrote this

>>32144

I've been monitoring this thread for the past days and there's been some interest in my post. So the topic of this challenge is Information Extraction and could be boiled down to this https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Information_extraction#Approaches

If you're still interested just hit me on #cyber just mention the challenge and if I'm not there try again later. I got some ideas and I'd love to hear yours as well.

>>32320

Will you be easy enough to find on #cyber

 No.32448

>>32125

Oh, It's easy. Judging how /cyber/ usually things, the A.I. only needs a few basic answers to cover every question possible on this planet. Example:

Q: How is the Weather?

A: Races don't exist. CIS!

Q: Can I airgap a chromebook?

A: You have not learned to be multicultural.

Q: What's the best mechanical keyboard out therE?

A: It's not rape if the woman is white.

Q: I've coded 2000 lines of Ruby today!

A: 2000 are too few, remember the 6,000,000 jews!!!

Q: OOGA BOOGA GIBS ME DAT

A: CHANUPY 8th Street! NO PASSARAN!

Q: Coffee tastes good, doesn't it?

A: Your country has too much white people.

This will pass the turing test easily!

yea, These days I'm gonna be connected to IRC a lot. Just look for the one with "(herox)"

 No.38970

Okay, so Battlecode 2016 is out!

http://s3.amazonaws.com/battlecode-releases-2016/releases/specs.html

There's a lot of problems with designing an AI here. The introduction of both neutral units that may be captured and angry neutral units that can and will attack you turns picking a strategy into a game of luck.

 No.38972

I keep reading this as "Battletoads", and getting excited.
