I recently Lost my main hard drive a week ago.

about 2-3 years worth of documents, videos, memes from half chins and this place, info graphs.

Gone.

so I had a realization this shit is worthless to me.it also gave me a Epiphany,a clean slate.

I am saving up on owning a laptop that is anonymous as it can be.

other than Linux and TOR

what other programs/software,torrents do you recommend? hardware specs like RAM and CPUs are already looked at.However your suggestions will be helpful

Librebooted x200 (do it yourself if you can; buying from Minifree is a fucking rip-off) running your favourite distro. I like Slackware, but you could go for a freedom-respecting distro of your choice (or even a *BSD).

Use Privoxy to rule that everything should go through Tor (https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Privoxy#Forwarding_through_tor) to keep yourself from an embarrassing moment. Icecat would be a good browser choice, ensuring you install the tinfoil plugins (NoScript et al).

See PRISM break (https://prism-break.org) for other software to use. The hardest part is getting other people to use the software too.

Reminder that almost no computer is useless. You can always install a Linux OS onto a thumb drive. Maybe use that laptop as a server or just to test out the waters of Linux?

Get a computer that's small and powerful, don't go for an enormous laptop. The /cyber/ laptop is one you can pick up and run with.

Could you direct me to somewhere that I could learn to install slackware via a USB?

 No.35422

The install is very easy. You partition your disk(s) and then run the setup program. There's a guide on full disk encryption somewhere on the Slackware wiki.

Thanks chummer.

I have a libreboot x60 from minifree running trisquel that I love.

Consider the w510 thinkpad

Remove Intel, install loonix.

Why is trisquel any better than other distros

 No.35860

>>34894

tor is very mainstream. I wouldn't put 100% complete trust in it, as a matter of paranoia and principle.

remember that you not only need FOSS software (free open source software) but you also need FREE OPEN SOURCE HARDWARE. FOSH.

good software, like a new OS running on a shitty android phones compromised hardware is not the smartest thing depending on what you want to accomplish in terms of privacy.

 No.35865

>>35860

daily reminder a 100% fosh system doesnt exist.
