>the remake, which will be powered by the Unity engine

Into the trash it goes. Which is a shame, it could be a great thing if their promises that it is going to "be very true to the spirit of the originals" are going to turn out truthful.

why, whats wrong with the unity engine? please educate me I'm a scrub

While not inherently bad, most developers can't seem to utilize it properly. In fact I can't remember a game built upon it that would run well. Most are glitchfests that lag all the time.

Would you better suggest they make a new engine, or use a different engine, and if so, what engine to use? From all i hear all the engines you can buy are shit, but making a new one is way more time consuming.

It's because most developers who use Unity are indie and don't have the skills AND/OR budget to do quality work. Not to mention that the games are typically built using C# or JS, so they can't be as optimised as native coded engines.

Oh shit, so it's not even a reboot, but a graphical update on a new engine, that's pretty schway. Plus System Shock 3 was recently announced and is being developed by a studio that consists of a bunch of guys from Looking Glass.

wasteland 2, although a good game, seemed to always put the GPU on full load all the time for some reason. infact all unity engine games i've played do this

You need no budget to work with UE4 or Source.

Is this piece of software going to be closed source? If so, you can shove it up your ass.

This, its a magnet for amateurs (like myself) and so the Unity splash screen gets associated inept devs.
