 No.39051

Hey /Cyber/ So after a recent event in my life I have been thinking of how to better hide data offline, Here's a concept I came up with, What do you guys think? Do any of you have your own methods?

 No.39052

Did you get v&?

 No.39053

>>39052

Not V& but Raided. Thankfully I had time to destroy my external before they got in. But I'd rather not have to do that in the future.

 No.39055

>>39053

full disk encryption is mandatory

as far as your concept, it's extremely obvious what that is. if you could convert usb to some other format hide micro usb inside the plug then it might work.

Not entirely, USB wall outlets are becoming standard in new homes (Especially Lennar built homes) and these come in many styles (see Pic) I'm also considering using a normal outlet with a wall charger that's epoxied to the outlet and uses the same general idea as my first concept.

>>39055

Also Yes, Full encryption is also part of the plan, Fallback for if it's somehow discovered.

 No.39059

OP, look at this thread: >>>/tech/483449

You could set up some sort of secure powerline network that connects to a drive hidden in your wall or something (and also have a normal powerline network with your router to explain the adapter).

 No.39088

>>39051

as some other anons mentioned its quite obvious. also what do you do if the HDD dies? Or you move out of your home? Or you place burns down? you'd have to break open the wall or the HDD would be destroyed/lost.

I dont have a concept myself yet but hiding it out of your home might be an option. That of course has other disadvantages but it seems safer?!

 No.39102

>>39088

presumably you can get to the drive by pulling out the mains outlet. it's just a couple screws

 No.39128

Have you heared of steganography? If you are not trying to hide huge amounts of data that might be worth it.

 No.39129

>>39051

I would use a RJ11/RJ45 port instead of USB, to make it even more unsuspectable.

You could also modify one of those power strips with USB ports: hide a small pendrive inside and connect the USB charger to it instead.

 No.39145

Cover it in tinfoil, stick a piece of paper that says "chicken" on it and put it in the fridge?

 No.39152

>>39145

it just might work too!

 No.39155

These two books were written with more drugs, guns and people in mind than data, but there should be plenty of ideas here for you.
