You're so clever. Have fun.

 No.40451

Cyber is not a messageboard. Cyber is a way of thinking. We'll find each other when the time comes. See you in the wired.

True. But you have to admit that these message boards bring us closer together, With all the drokk out their in the meatspace one tends to retreat to message boards like these.

 No.40453

There*

 No.40461

I'll keep posting here.

I've actually had an idea kicking around for a while for an imageboard. I'd host it on a Jinteki subdomain, probably corpnet.jinteki.industries. Instead of a user ID a la /v/, you'll get a procedurally generated realistic-sounding name. We'll have boards like Management, IT, HR, Marketing, etc. Then y'all can ironically shitpost, ideally without getting fired (instead of banned).

the fun comes when you find the sekrit boards

 No.40462

I'm sick of roleplayers shitting up my internet.

Not >>40461, though, that sounds neat.

But they're on my paranormal boards, my tinfoil boards, my fucking game sites, the tumblr circle I used to be a part of, cyber roleplayers, people who pretend to be Japanese. Nobody is real. And when I mean real, nobody is their own persona. Everyone wants to be an anome girl or an edgy anime guy or an annoying piece of shit to troll or some autistic retard. It destroyed the internet I grew up with. And it probably made people less welcoming of newcomers to their nook because of that too.

 No.40463

Things haven't been the same since the board got wiped, kind of a loss of innocence. But being active 24/7 would be worse.

 No.40466

it's the insular nature of this board that's really the limitation. Because the only thing anyone takes as cyberpunk here is old hoary shit and the media is basically dead, there isn't much potential for expansion. So I guess if longevity was the goal the subject was phrased a bit wrong- should have been cyberculture or something to prevent the pidgeonholing

but I like the aesthetic and there's some regulars

 No.40469

>>40466

I try to be as regular as i can, when not working, eating or sleeping.

 No.40471

>>40469

Same here.

I enjoy conversing with you shazbots. Hair splitting aside, at least we have the same mutual interest. No one else outside of this site that I have to interact w/IRL can appreciate the subject matter.

>inb4 /r/

It's drek.

 No.40472

>>40471

Re-read the OP and saw /r/ was in b4 I inb4'ed. I'll show myself out.

 No.40503

>>40461

That sounds like it'd be fun. I don't see why you shouldn't go for it. What does /cyber/ have to lose?

>>40462

To be fair, not everyone wants to be an autistic retard. But then, the kind of person that doesn't want to be one is already one.

 No.40504

>>40503

Are you saying that if you're not an autistic retard, that means you want to be one?

 No.40505

>>40462

Catering to you wouldn't make me any more real though, just deal with the new-friends that come and go as they will.

 No.40510

>>40446

We could go back to our roots, that is, cyberpunk generals on /tech/.

>>40463

And the asshole who wiped the board is now one of Hotwheels' IRC friends.

 No.40511

>>40461

That actually sounds like a good idea. Keep us updated if and when you decide to start working on it.

 No.40513

i'm glad this shithole died, tbh. nothing good ever came out of this board.

 No.40514

>>40461

Adding this to my cyberpunk tabletop setting:

>C.J.I started as literary a bunch of channers LARP'ing over the internet.

>After a while out of boredom they decided to try and design some actual hardware to sell

> and suddenly found huge success, discovering completely untapped market for gentoophones.

>Today jinteki.industries is a hardware engingeering giant,

> making everything from ergonomic keyboards to desktop-tier e-ink displays,

> targeting mostly niche auditories and advanced users.

>Despite it's size and massive revenue, C.J.I still doesn't employ any actual management,

> it's staff just keeps LARPing as one during their work hours.

 No.40518

>>40511

>>40503

I've already got a slightly more webdev-inclined guy helping me out with it. Actual work will start maybe within a week. My biggest problem is that I have no experience with databases or *nix configuration, but hey, it's a learning experience. I don't want to say too much about how it's structured, since there'll be nifty hidden things, but it'll be schway if we ever get it to production.

 No.40520

>>40510

cripplekike is still running the crony clique? some things never change

 No.40521

>>40518

Tell /tech/ about your project. It won't hurt and maybe someone will even help.

 No.40525

>>40504

Only for online purposes, to use as a shield to deflect criticism. Just look at tumblr, with their self-diagnosis bullshit.

>>40518

Listen to >>40521 It wouldn't hurt to get some help. Just have a slight screening process involving interest in cyberpunk and level of skill, preferably not in that order.

File: 1458078994200.png (56.37 KB, 511x441, 73:63, trenchcoat2f - Copy.png)

The lack of maintenance, inactivity of the owner, the drama and subsequent loss of trust, plus the elitism of many in the board to newbies pretty much pushed /cyber/ to the grave.

>>40461

10/10

Do it, fggt.

>>40514

Awesome.

 No.40553

I suppose I'll say my piece.

I'm thinking of starting up a /cyber/ discussion site– but I'm really not sure if an imageboard is the best format. Mainly because /cyber/, nullpo, and lainchan are all dead.

What's the issue the aforementioned three had that caused it to die in the first place? Once we figure that out, we can probably move onto how to create an active community.

 No.40554

>>40553

First, there's so called Network Effect.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Network_effect

People naturally prefer communicating on biggest platform available to them, unless smaller option provide some marginal benefit. This is why facebook/twittter are still in business despite offering shit service, and this is why direct clone of /cyber/, or clone with some small improvements will never work too.

Second, maintaining a community is pretty hard. You can't just setup web-server with board engine and call it a day, you have to make sure server runs properly, clean up spam, etc. It also costs money.

There's more, but those two, as I see it, a major causes of failure for new websites.

 No.40555

>>40553

The cyberpunk community sucks. There's a lot to talk about and to do, but most people here are ignorant and/or lazy (myself included). This is because cyberpunk also sucks. The aesthetic is great but the worldview is depressing and as such it mostly appeals to useless pieces of shit like us.

Check the cyberpunk subreddit, they have over 80 thousand users, yet most of the threads on the front page have very few comments.

 No.40556

>>40554

you do realize we're on 8chan

>>40555

I meant the cyberpunk culture community, not the cyberpunk city-scape looking thing community

 No.40557

>>40556

>you do realize we're on 8chan

It only proves my point, no?

 No.40559

>>40557

clearly, a migration is possible– given that we have suitable reason and benefits to doing so, something which other sites don't offer

what would that even be, though?

 No.40571

nullpo.moe is a back up board in case 8chan ever goes down.

It should be dead.

none of the other places you described are 'dead'. This board should be getting somewhere between 10-20 posts a day.

If you expect any more than that, I don't think an imageboard is a good format for chat-like discussion. I suggest IRC channels like /g/punk

I'm going to bumplock this thread now.

 No.40573

>>40571

Don't be an idiot. Bumplocking a thread just because you don't like it is what one would expect from a /pol/ mod.

 No.40575

>>40573

I'm bumplocking it because it has nothing to do with cyberpunk. We already have several "/cyber/ is dead" threads in the catalog. One gets made about once a month.

 No.40581

>>40575

>We already have several "/cyber/ is dead" threads in the catalog

Isn't 'cyber is dead' a cornerstone of modern cyber?

 No.40582

>>40575

It's about the cyberpunk community, so it's relevant and if people want to have this discussion once a month, who are you to say they can't? Your job is remove spam, not act like the thought police.

 No.40584

>>40582

I agree, it's not relevant enough. It's just spamming the site.

 No.40586

>>40446

>nullpo.moe is dead

>lainchan is dead

It's only dead if you quit faggot.

Add interesting shit with which I mean the exact opposite of this thread.

 No.40611

>>40581

At least as much as THAT'S NOT CYBERPUNK, lol.
