( Image is from Wickedcity )

Been watching Cyber city Oedo 808

Shit almost gave me epilepsy, still fucking good though.

Dominion and Black Magic M-66, both from the author of Ghost in the Shell. are very good (love the floofy hair). I also find that Lily Cat an underrated little gem. It's basically derivative of Alien but still very cool. Armitage III is one of my personal favorites. Definitely recommend watching it subbed though, since the dub sucks. Then there's stuff like Genocyber and Angel Cop which are flawed but definitely enjoyable. Genocyber is kind of like Guyver on crack. Both have funny, awful dubs, so if you like laughing at bad dubbing, there's that. Great atmosphere in both of them though, even though they're both light on plot. I sometimes see people recommend Bubblegum Crisis but I find that's more of a super sentai type show than cyberpunk. Still, if you've seen everything else, it's okay. I actually prefer it's sorta sequel, AD Police, because it's lighter on the sentai aspect and heavier on the cyberpunk. Everyone knows Battle Angel Alita. I'm sure there's more but those are my recommendations.

Angel Cop if you like ultraviolence

The anime prequel to Blade Runner 2049 called Blackout 2022 just came out on crunchy roll. It's from Shinichiro Watanabe of Cowboy Bebop.

I watched it, it's very short (about 15 Minutes), and very dense, but a fun-watch after all.

Gunnm all the way my man.

Although there is an anime, I would advise you to look for the manga.

How so, so far it feels like a toned-down Angel Cop.

>Angel Cop which are flawed but definitely enjoyable

>Angel Cop

What is this heresy? Angel Cop is the source of all truth.

Yeah the anime was a short low budget OVA

If you're watching shit on crunchyroll you're their bitch. They leave spyware on your computer.

808 is one of my favorites

There is one comment I would like to share re: cyberpunk anime.

Take the scope back, there is the cold war and the 80's. Studios put out a crazy amount of OVA's as pilots, hoping to get picked up. GITS and The Matrix are only blockbusters because of the stories in the peripheral, yet these are the films that got funding, so therefore these.

The issue today is that there is no similar mileau of studios who actually are able to produce a little reflection of the spirit of the age. People aren't organizing towards that, I feel. Look at Sam Hyde, he 'made it' on Adult Swim, and after the first season he was able to buy a car. Wow. And for every Sam there's 50万回 people who aren't going to make it.

We have to get away from thinking that Time Warner, FCC regulated hell, and content-aware shadowban youtube are the only channels by which we can express ourselves. Imagine if there was a whole genre of media which is critically receptive to our lived experience rather than what a giant computer thought would sell. And imagine what hits would stand out from such a background. But that won't happen without that century of labor movements that is effectively squashed at the moment.

tldr; Digital Labor Union Now

>The Matrix

>Time Warner

These have nothing to do with anime industry.

>Imagine if there was a whole genre of media which is critically receptive to our lived experience rather than what a giant computer thought would sell.

We don't have to imagine.

Writing, webcomics, electronic music, Game Maker JRPGs, barriers of entry into media are lower than ever.

All you need is shitty PC and internet connection.

Even if you're in it for money, getting brouzouf throw wires is super easy too.

>And imagine what hits would stand out from such a background.

And yet, despite low barriers of entry and convenient funding, there's nothing really to write about.

Code: Lyoko

Sam is a fucking loser, though.

is it really worth watching?

what's so great?

Kiddy cartoon with really bad CG.

Also, hard to find in good quality and with original french audio.

That not at all subtle reminder that this place is packed with children, and adults who watch children's cartoons.
