NEW AUGMENTS IMPLANTS NO BIOREJECTION! NUTECH SPINALJACK CONSOLE, REPLACEMENT LIMBS ORGANIC EYES AT jinteki.tk
This thread is for cyberlife, a website that serves as a linkdump and content repository for all things cyberpunk, made by and for /cyber/ and /g/punk. Post content suggestions, fixes, general discussion, etc. If someone threw together a list for good music, I'd greatly appreciate it.

I was talking about it a bit in the sticky, and the old thread with the pics is gone, so for those who are interested, here's what cyberlife is running on.
The web server is actually running on Jinteki-DC, which is not a DC because I haven't bothered to set it up, and instead threw IIS on prematurely while drunk, ruining what I had planned to use as a gold copy. RIP.
Also, pushed out a small update to the site today. Threw some of my thoughts into Philosophy, and wrote a story about my stupidity in high school for the braindump section. It turned into a 2-hour writing project, and I didn't like it when I was done, so there goes my evening.

So I was retarded on two counts. The first being that I didn't know that the box I'm using to host is uses PC2-5300F (and that I only had PC2-5300P, and that the two can't be used together, and that they have different slots anyway). The second in that I had let my ESXi license expire, which meant that when I brought the host back up, I couldn't bring the VMs back up. I've reset that (all you have to do is delete the license files on startup), so the site will be up again in a few minutes.

The former implies that you have seen Lain while the latter implies you haven't.
And while we're on the subject of anime, I don't believe Steins;Gate should be there. The setting is just normal modern day Akihabara with time travel. CORPORATE NEWSLETTER 3/21/2015
Jinteki Industries is getting a major upgrade to corp.net today! Our "hard-working management" acquired a significantly better firewall today in a business deal involving a bunch of unused M:tG cards and a small amount of coercion. This upgrade doubles throughput, even though we were at the max for our ISP, will allow proper NAT policies (so our sysops can play with the site outside of corporate headquarters), has a host of new features, and isn't completely locked down by licensing requirements.
***This document is confidential and proprietary information. Do not share this document with stockholders or third parties. ***
You can expect to see more site updates, since I can now play with my VMs from anywhere. Speeds will improve. There will be a lot of downtime tomorrow while I get everything set up. While I'm at it, I'll make all the updates and changes suggested here that I haven't gotten around to yet.
Sorry that I haven't done anything with a mail server yet. I'll get around to it. It's a big project for me, so it's going to take a good chunk of time.

Chances are if they know about the site they were directed by somebody or they found it from /cyber/. I wouldn't worry too much about that but it's just my opinion. use self-signed cert.
in fact you should use two certificates, one for ECDSA and one for RSA encrypted connections and you need to append your custom DHParams to the first cert that you configure (assuming you are using apache).
https://httpd.apache.org/docs/current/ssl/ssl_faq.html
you can also try to use CAcert with a pseudonym, idk if their policies allow that.
force SSL on port 443 (i think starttls is insecure) but also let people use port 80 unencrypted.
people can then whitelist your certificate for your website in firefox or even add your CA certificate (but that would allow you to create valid certificates for any domain because x509 is fucking retarded like everything created by people who value brouzouf higher than progress).

No. I don't have a ton of speed, at least not for upload. You're thinking simply of data caps.
To quote from wikipedia:
The term Bandwidth sometimes defines the net bit rate (aka. peak bit rate, information rate, or physical layer useful bit rate), channel capacity, or the maximum throughput of a logical or physical communication path in a digital communication system. For example, bandwidth tests measure the maximum throughput of a computer network.
As far as I know, I don't have a data cap. I haven't tried downloading a few TB to test it, though.

Kalyx wanted me to drop /cyber/ from jinteki and offered me an affiliation deal, then got asspained when I declined. Of course, kalyx has embarrassing stuff all over the internet, so that got posted.

Hi Kalyx!
While your damage control efforts are admirable in their volume, they're not very effective, because anyone can see that the room is the same as you've posted pictures from before. Unfortunately, that sort of bad opsec is the result of severe attention whoring. I saw someone say that your name is mentioned partway through the video, but in all honesty, I haven't bothered cleaning up the audio and listening.
I haven't "put up an IP grabber". In the interests of disclosure, Jinteki has always logged traffic. I didn't even set it up manually, it was by default. I haven't even bothered to look at traffic numbers since I put the page up, I'll get around to it eventually. But "an IP grabber" is laughable at best - almost as laughable as the thought of trying to dox someone THROUGH their IP. I mean, maybe if you're browsing from the workplace, but why on earth would you do that? That would require some terrible opse- oh.
Well, it would require you to have a job, so still wouldn't work.
But I don't have any interest in trying to dox you. There would be no point. What would I stand to gain? To embarrass you? I don't need to do anything but sit back for that to happen.

Akitaro (I'm not kalyx, can like send a dick pic or something to confirm) you're being equally as immature. I'm not saying you're as bad as kalyx but you're still responding like you're twelve. My goal isn't to insult you (my wording doesn't help here) but to ask/tell you just ignore kalyx. And maybe can you clear the air about why you log IPs anyway? I'd be interested in that, that initially was the reason why I responded but then went off on a rant.

UGH.
I beg to differ. If you're referring to the page, more people seem to like it than dislike it, so it served its purpose.
>ask/tell you just ignore kalyx
This has been much too rich to ignore.
>maybe can you clear the air about why you log IPs anyway? I'd be interested in that, that initially was the reason why I responded but then went off on a rant
As I said, logging was on by default. I'm lazy, and didn't change it. Didn't even think about it, until it was mentioned on here. In a stunning example of exactly how much I care, I can't even find the tool I was using for log analysis (simply to see pagehits over time) half a year or so ago.

No.37088
OK some people might not like the lainchan admin but the site itself is pretty cool right?
I think it's good having a chan dedicated to just Cyberpunk and obviously it's a chan's users that make it good and I think the quality of posts and discussion and files and information I've got from lainchan have been great.
I assumed most people browsed lainchan as well as /cyber/, but do you think this is the case?
No.37095
>>37088
no, yes, respectively
The sooner people stop using that comfy and chill site for Macfags, the better. Us GNU/Linux extremists are not welcome there, as you may know. The admin basically poached the /tech/ and /cyber/ userbase for months so that he could personally enrich himself, the info on 8ch is superior in quality and variety. Lainchan has some good but not enough to offset its faults, the good being a userbase that belongs here and not there; they were seduced by the waifu lust no doubt.

No.37127
>>37053
I haven't used it myself, personally.
My experiences as a webadmin? I was tinkering with HTML one day and though "hey, I should make a website for the cyberpunk general on /g/ and store info there", except that I got drunk and decided to emulate The Motherfucking Website. No CSS, no HTML5, no javascript, absolutely nothing fancy, just plain old HTML. I dubbed it "cyberlife" because it sounded schway, and dumped it onto neocities. Someone on #/g/punk did the CSS, and I updated it every now and then. Eventually I finished college, got my own place, ended up with some hardware, and decided to move hosting in-house. I used the .tk domain until it was siezed, then for the first time ever, I spent brouzouf on the project and bought a .industries domain.
If I had to do filesharing, I'd just set up an FTP server and hand out credentials to people using it. I'm lazy like that. I suppose you could do another pomf.se clone, I think the code is somewhere out there.
>>37088
hi kalyx :^)
The site is cool? It could be. It had a lot of potential, but the entire staff consists of gigantic shazbots, and much like with any community (seen especially well with 4chan), the administrative culture permeates down.
They like to pretend to be paranoid and privacy-focused, but they all have terrible opsec, Darkengine and Kalyx in particular. Again, this trickles down, so you end up with two camps - the actual Free as in GNU/Freedom purists, and people that pretend to care but use OSX and Wangblows. Discussions tend to be shallow and circlejerky, as opposed to /cyber/, where we argue and shitpost and get mad at each other frequently. On lainchan, that gets you derezzed; on /cyber/, that gets your thread bumplocked - which means that it won't actually die for a month or more due to the slow post rate.
Probably most amusing, though, is the fact that lainchan looks at /cyber/ as posers, because we have the occasional fashion thread and don't mind pictures of cities at night. Since lainchan is a mature, serious imageboard for mature, serious people such as pics related, anything that's not explicitly covered by a board topic is frowned upon or simply deleted - and in the most general board, /cyb/, it's almost all technology anyway, because their /tech/ board got shut down for a while, and anything that's not exclusively cyber can't be cyberpunk. As a sidenote, /tech/ actually got shutdown because Kalyx got mad at freetards for calling out Apple as freedom-hating, privacy-disrespecting shit. Meanwhile, /cyber/ will cover any topic under the sun as long as it's at least tangentially related.
The divide between the two sites, combined with the fact that they think we're cultural posers and we think they're technological posers, compounded by the fact that they try to be comfy (i.e. autistic circlejerk) while we try to be genuine (i.e. shitpost and argue) means that there's not actually a ton of cross-site. There's certainly some, but I'd be quite surprised if it was more than a third of /cyber/.
At least, that's my midnight perspective.
No.37130
>>37127
I use Lainchan only for /cyb/ every other board on there is trash. /cyb/ has decent threads, but overall isn't fast enough and genuine enough to be as good as /cyber/ I use Lainchan when I remember it exists. I check /cyber/ everyday.
