Let's brainstorm, what are the qualities this CYOA is missing to make it interesting. If we can pinpoint that we have learned a valuable lesson for when we create on ourselves.
The setting is not necessarily dull, you're in a fantasy world fighting monsters. Awesome.
But why do the different monster contracts have to be so specific? Are there really only 14 types of monsters? That sounds boring and shrinks the world. Plus, we get a setting idea but never any specifics that tickle our imagination. No factions or history, no real backstory.
But then again that isn't really important, the reason to play a CYOA is for clever or personalized builds. The build system seems… lacking. You get to choose abilities from a list like perks in a video game. There's no real way to distinguish yourself from others, I think that's the problem with this CYOA.
