The Deceiver/Spell Thief build
>mentor
Elder tome
>abyssal magic
Nightbringer
Draw spell
Nocturnal Vigor
Puppeteer
Grand Illusion
Break Summon
Night Cloak
>lunar magic
Lichdom
>minor Powers
item enchant
decipher
repair
heal
>use item enchant and draw spell
>stab or "persuade" mage to use enchanted item
>now have copy of spell
Since I think this combo is pretty OP I like to think the enchanted item has 'charges' and will turn to dust upon depletion, with stronger spells having less charges. And maybe use repair to refill it if I can.
>use grand illusion or night cloak to get near casters or escape from dire situations
>poke them with dagger of drawspell +1 or something
>use puppeteer on mages that have spells I want but item enchant is on cooldown or just use them as an ally/hostage if need be
How I basically want to use my build.
tl;dr version:
I'll pretend to be a lowly dropout from a mage's college who can only use decipher, repair and heal offering my services to adventurers and the like. Since I'm pretty dependent on illusion magic and enchanted items to get me out of trouble I'm pretty vulnerable to people who can see through illusions, they would be would the first to go or avoid them entirely. If there are no people who can see through illusions, I plan to lure them into traps or staged fights using grand illusion or other methods, using this chance to gather information on potential marks. I would then try to 'steal' spells. Since stealing is my goal I'd avoid killing them as much as possible, dead adventurers are bad for business after all.
My priority list of spells to steal from REALLY WANT to kinda want: Spell Echo, very useful for emergencies and as a threat of mutually assured destruction; Holding Pocket, all those xyz of drawspell has to go somewhere; Titan,to fuck shit up; Living Armour, to wear for its combat bonuses and it synergies with my build; Tear Magic, for dangerous mages(will dying and using lichdom revert its effects?); Celestial Wings, Meteoric Speed, Portal, Beacon Rune, for traveling; defensive spells; damage spells; summons and everything else.
And in cases of where I need to fight or if I were to be found out, I would use nightbringer to buff my spells night cloak and grand illusion then defuse the situation. Turn invisible and use decoy illusions to further confuse the enemy in the darkness of nightbringer. Since I have nocturnal vigour I have the option of turning my illusions solid and have a buff to speed and reaction time turning me into a potential fighter with illusory allies, and if I have living armor… you can see where I'm going with this. Break summon for, well, summons, lichdom for a fail safe, draw spell to further my arsenal and puppeteer for reasons mentioned above.
I am become munchkin, destroyer of worlds.
