What does /cypher/ think about the famous uncracked codes?
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Category:Uncracked_codes_and_ciphersFor a long time I was obsessed with the Shugborough inscription (because of the holy grail connection), but it is so short that many possible explainations fit, and I seriously doubt anyone alive today could determine the truth. I only mention it here for amusement, as it was one of the first undecoded mesages I came across.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shugborough_inscriptionMy current on-again-off-again obsession is the Dorabella cipher in pic related. Several solutions have been proposed, but they're all shit.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dorabella_CipherThe cipher is particularly interesting to me because Elgar had previously written notes suggesting how it was created.
