I block flash because it has really bad security flaws and can't play any flash games.

it would be nice to play some simple text based game that doesn't need flash and uses minimal java to run.

Because it's easy and portable.

That's why so many people use it.

Sure, they could learn a better language and compile it for different systems, but that's too much effort, it's so much simpler to learn actionscript in flash or use the bloated memory hog that is java.

I mean it's only really a big deal if you're using flash stuff that's compromised. Get it from a place that doesn't suck and you'll usually be fine.

I do agree though, Flash fucking sucks and I'm glad HTML5 largely replaced it.
