We had a large amount of activity with the exodus until futa was banned. When the board switched mods we had an average active user count in the lower to mid 20's, after futa was allowed again we dropped down to the mid teens to lower 20's, went up to the lower 30's when Elzi started posting, and now the activity level has gone down a bit again. Reallowing futa hasn't killed the traffic, banning it did and the board hasn't recovered.

IMO the problem with old /d/ was always stagnation and sliding. Sure the /soc/ threads had lots of cancer but it wasn't like, an inevitability or swallowing the whole threads.
