When I started going to 8chan for /tg/ I noticed a significant difference in board culture. The folks who ditched 4chan were mostly the sort that had a longing for what /tg/ once was. The sad truth is that for a long time browsing 4chan's /tg/ has been largely a waste of time. It used to be that when you open the catalog, you'd find an abundance of stories, ideas, and new projects. Now a precious few such threads choke under the weight of quests, cyoas, generals, and social justice.
The decision to make /tg/ the quarantine for quests was part of a long history of our board culture regressing further and further.
Mods have always been a bit of a liability on /tg/ so many have shown agendas, or complete lack of familiarity with the culture. Nazimod drove out a lot of creative people from /tg/, I don't think we have ever really recovered.
8chan is a place where /tg/ can self-govern, free ourselves from cuckolds and faggotry, and hopefully foster a new golden age.
I don't think it is fair to say that we actively exclude others. It is always a great thing when people take up our hobbies. We expect the people participating in the board to dive in. The problem with quests was that it brought people on the board with no other reason to be on /tg/. It gets pretty fucking annoying when your topics on worldbuilding keep getting pushed off by folks from /a/ arguing over waifus.
8chan's /tg/ is what remains from the long hardships of our board. We are weathered, in fear that our best years and accomplishments are behind us, yet hopeful for our new beginnings.
