Has anyone here ever played the Dbz TCG? The game looks pretty complex.

The cards were cool though.

It's not THAT complex, honestly. It's just not especially fun. The few times I've actually managed to bug someone into playing it with me it always ended awfully.
I wanted to like it so badly. I spent most of my childhood up to my teenage years collecting the cards, in particular starting with the Cell Games saga all the way to the Lost Episodes saga of GT. Some of the mechanics seemed like they would help some of the more annoying aspects of the game (i.e. Endurance on some cards preventing you from completely milling out all your good cards), but I never really got a chance to test any of these mechanics out, much less make heads or tails of the game. The rules feel pretty retarded, the rejuvenation phase only giving you back one card is retarded, there's a ton of errata and restrictions on the number of certain cards, and due to the nature of some of the rules it just kind of feels like it has no strategy at all. I'd love to block your energy attack, but it's too bad that all my cards that can block it were milled out and all that I drew at the beginning of this combat were non-combat cards. Why play any Personality except the strongest ones that deal the most damage when comparing Physical attack tables?
You just kind of feel really shitty too whenever you win or lose. It always seemed to me like you either completely steamroll your opponent or you get completely steamrolled yourself. You just kind of end up not having much fun.
I dunno, maybe the later sets' mechanics improved on the game, but good luck trying to find anyone to play it with on a regular basis, since there's only one game that ever came out for it and that was on the GBA and only went up to the Androids saga (if there's some simulation game someone wrote for it, I've never heard of it).
At the very least, the cards were pretty cool and it was always fun having your favorite characters in card form. The Personality cards did look pretty sweet.

>>295Yeah, on the GBA, but since it came out when it did it only went up to the Trunks saga's cards, so you don't get to play with any of the later mechanics. I don't think they ever did any kind of simulator or made any later video games. It was a pretty clunky game, too. I'm always disappointed every time I give it a try.
