For those of you who already know how to use hydrus:

Desurepo Access Key and Server

For those of you who don't here's the basics, if your still confused, read through hydrus's documentation, its outdated and some of its incorrect, but its well written and I HIGHLY recommend reading through it all

Install

First, download the current version of Hydrus, for this guide im going to use the Zip version for windows, if you are on linux, you can probably figure it out yourself smartypants

Download the latest version first, usually the sticky on /hydrus/, currently its >>>/hydrus/946

Then download the latest database, this will save you over a days worth of time, you don't have to do this, but it will be a good 24 hours to download the tag repo, at minimum, the latest one can be found here >>>/hydrus/811 use the mediafire link

Unzip the hydrus client, naviagate to the hydrus folder, then to db, drop the contents of the client database zip into db

Running

Navigate back to the hydrus folder, click client.exe, and you hydrus should start.

give it some time to update, there will be new tags it needs to download Desu~Congrats, your hydrus client is working.

Install Desurepo

On the top menu, click "Services" then "Manage Services" in the drop down.

Click the "Remote" tab, then click "File Repositories", now hit "Add".

Enter the services name (Desurepo), then click "The account is already initialised; I just want to add it to this client Desu~I have a normal access key."

In the credentials section, you are going to enter the access key followed by the hostname and port, all can be found in the post above (you can just copy and paste it into there)

Hit test credentials, and you should get a message about how its working, hopefully.

Congrats, the desu repo is now set up, give it several hours to download all the images

WARNING

Much of the repo is still unsorted, and includes raw tag downloads from pixiv, this means, there is some very NSFW stuff in there, ranging from just lewd stuff, to very unpleasant, nasty guro, or even worse, furseiseki Desu~You can add -guro, -scat, etc to your search to filter out these results when browsing your images, however much of them are still untagged Desu~If you see any of these images, please tag them appropriately.

Once we have these sort of images properly tagged, we can begin removing them from the repo, or tagging them in such a way they wont pop up Desu~Hydrus dev is working on a global filter option, so after the next update, you should be able to set things to always be filtered out.

Lets use the tag "NSFD" (Not safe for desufags) for anything that fits the category of scat, watersports, guro, jissou (tag with jissouseiseki as well), and furseiseki (tag with furseiseki as well)

It's important we tag these, THEN remove them, so any desufags who do any batch downloads of any websites, will be able to filter out and delete these form their hydrus databases, since they are already tagged in such a way they can be removed quickly.

Do I have to download the files to get the tag repository for the files?

I'd much rather import what I have collected into Hydrus than downloading some massive archive which I'm not familiar with

We're just using the public tag repository at the moment, so you can push any changes there without having to download all the thumbnails and such from the file repo.

If you haven't synced it before and you didn't bootstrap from the copy the hydrus dev gives out (don't do that to an existing installation btw), then you're probably right Desu~It does take a very long time.

If you're on ganoo/loonicks you can install "eatmydata" and run hydrus under that Desu~It will sync a lot faster but you'll still have to take into account the usual drawbacks of eatmydata

I have hydrus up and running, been tagging some stuff from my /a/rozen maiden folder

decided to import my desu folder and got a little bit surprised, 10,356 files not counting the 2000-something from the /a/ folder

what the fuck am I doing with my life Desu ka~

at 3350 files imported 2 failed and only 5 are already in the database

I guess I should not have done a massive bulk import and instead made smaller imports for ease of tagging doujin and manga etc

I hope this is something that could be done at a later stage and is probably documented how to do it somewhere

maybe the program is smart enough to just allow me to re-import folders and add tags without overwriting or making duplicates of the files

It's actually 11,048 files but haven't connected to the desu File repository yet, since I thought it'll start downloading over 30,000 files Desu~ which it seems to be doing judging by it trying to download 31,000-something thumbnails which I halted

I did however try to connect to it as a tag repo without it doing anything useful

most of what I have you can get from the desu ftp and desuchan

yes desurepo is only an imagerepo, not a tag repo

I thought you had 10k that aren't in the desurepo

however, i think it will be possible to sort out desurepo content once you have it all, and then see what is not in the repo, then upload anything not in the repo so it can be added

HYDRUS is a tagging system (booru-on-a-stick)

you do not have to download desurepo to use hydrus, or the tags, desurepo is the collection of 30k images, hydrus is the tagging program and the public tag repo is where we are tagging things in the desu repo

if someone has the desurepo downloaded and tags something, they tag to the public tag repo, if you import that same image into your own instance of hydrus and have the public tag repo, you image will be tagged for you, thanks to whoever tagged it who has the desurepo

How can I download anything from Desurepo Desu ka~ I've set up access key, test credentials passed OK, but there aren't any thumbnails or files downloaded, neither when I leave Hydrus open for a whole day long, nor when it was making some maintenance work Desu~ I've even set it up for 800 minute, but that didn't help.

Have I missed something?

Reinstalled everything, now I'm getting error message upon entering hostname and port

Connection was made, but the service was not a hydrus tag repository Desu~ At the same time I did manage to start the public repo, so I suppose that there is something wrong with Desurepo.

Also, I double checked the credentials >>1773 and they were working couple month ago, though I didn't have enough time to download it completely.

Aren't they all in Hydrus yet Desu ka~ I thought that they are partially tagged.

Also I'm interested in the system itself, to see whether it can be used for storaging and sorting own pictures, or it is better to deal with them with the conventional file explorer.
