Remember, when 8chan.co moved to 8ch.net, 8ch.net was blocked at school, and then it became mysteriously unblocked. No idea if that means IT did it manually or not, but still. What could they do? Block it again from within school walls? Publicly disavow an anonymous message board on the Internet at some presentation or something? We live in the age of the Internet, anonymous discussion of things in a public forum is quite standard, it shouldn't be a surprise that DigiPen students are going to use such methods to communicate. If they try to "crack down" on it, that would be hilariously draconian, and totally par for the course with how they run the school.

>>1090 You (or "y'all" if you're not the same kitchenfag who posted last time) are by and away the best poster(s) on this entire board. It's great to hear this kind of inside information about how you guys really care about how you do your jobs and stuff. You're super cool. However,>Fucked up rules. The biggest one is that we can not interact with students. At all. If I ere identified, I would be fired for this. If I am eating lunch in the cafeteria, and a student sits down near me, I have to move. Any and all fraternization between kitchen staff and students is forbidden, and we can technically be fired for even learning a students name. We used to have student workers in the kitchen, but we treated then more like friends and team members than students, so it was banned. We have been literally told to treat you guys like you are on fire. This really sucks for some of the long time employees, who have literally watched you daily from accepted student open house to graduation. >We also have basically the same rules for each other. In the kitchen a high five can and will be considered sexual harassment, zero tolerance. Watch us and you'll hear the phrase "no touching" constantly as a sarcastic statement. What the hell is this? Is this normal for school kitchen staff? All parts of this are so incredibly weird, it feels like, I dunno, some weird cultural thing or something. You/y'all seem like really cool guys, what negative things could come from us interacting with you more? How stressful is it to work in these conditions? Personally, I'm not Mr. Sociable or anything, but I would have a hard time working at a job that had requirements like that, purely on principle. Also, is it weird at all that if one person asks for kosher soups, that suddenly all soups are kosher? Like, I'm not a huge pork fan myself, but it seems weird that a couple of vocal peoples' preferences/needs change the menu for the whole student body.

>>1091 >Also, is it weird at all that if one person asks for kosher soups, that suddenly all soups are kosher? Like, I'm not a huge pork fan myself, but it seems weird that a couple of vocal peoples' preferences/needs change the menu for the whole student body. It's not about just me. The vegetarian change, in my opinion, was silly. You shouldn't change everything in relation for a single person to a handful. At least the way I see it. I can see soup having more veggie appearances, but having at least one of them being veggie? C'mon now unless we're talking like 50 people requested a veggie option to the soup then I'll accept it, but I'm sure it wasn't more than 10 people.
>The chili meat. About two years ago, management decided that we needed to exclusively grind all of our own meat in house, and bought a meat grinder for that purpose. Fourty pounds of very inexpensive ground beef suddenly became 20 pounds of very expensive and labor intensive ground beef. Then, twenty pounds of cubed beef. The guy who makes all the soups has been cranky about it for a while. We might finally be seeing some changes there soon, though. That explains a lot. It's really unfortunate considering first year chili was really great. Then it went downhill to absolutely no beef and a couple beans. Also when will the next time chili be served? Jesus it's been like months.

1067, honestly, if they are keeping track of who's talking shit about the school and making sure they're no longer an issue, they have their priorities fucked as well as their pocketbooks. I honestly don't think that professors knowing about this is such a big issue. It's not like DigiPenitentiary is the first time people used the internet to shit talk the school.

>>1099 I wonder which number I'll get. (I'm 8chan illiterate) But TECHNICALLY there is a no fraternization policy set up for us kitchen drones. It's really more of a "don't touch people and don't try and date people" sort of a thing tho.

Anonymous 03/30/15 (Mon) 07:19:29 3f4e13 No. 1326
i've hung out with a kitchen drone after class at a bar like once. we recognized each other and ended up getting drinks and it was kind of a don't ask, don't tell scenario. based on what other people have told me, I don't believe this is a very rare occurrence either. it just happens and there's enough people at DP that respect the kitchen staff to not say anything about it. there might be a no fraternization policy set-up but, like all strict rules, it was meant to be broken and as long as nobody is a dickhead about it, things are fine. kinda like how RAs are not "supposed to" have any sort of sexual relationships with students in housing but last year myself and 3 or 4 other guys got a nice treat from one of the RAs. same thing with the drug/alcohol policy or digipen's strict no cheating policy. laughable.

>>1326 Here's the thing. Like every single rule we have to follow, it's never enforced until it is. There's no grey area. If the big man is happy, everyone is happy. If the big man isn't happy, we're an easy avenue for him to blow off steam, screaming and yelling about a hot pad left on the counter, or a fried shrimp that isn't crispy enough. He's threatened to fire people for just taking to students, he's threatened to close the entire department for someone leaving creamer out (not even our creamer, a staff member's) on the counter by the coffee machine, and he's sent memos after seeing two employees high five, since touching is automatically sexual harassment.
An hour later, we're his best friends and no harm no fowl. So MOST of us are paranoid wrecks that it's just a matter of time until someone does something dumb and we all get fired. Personally, I had a private meeting when I was overheard using a student's first name. A student who works in the bookstore. Nothing more came of it, but he wasn't in that bad a mood. This time.
The rules aren't made to be broken. The rules are an excuse to fuck with people when the management feels like it.
