I'm sure everyone has at least one story like this shit: >Gat211 lab.>Holcomb's talking about map categories. >Loud student in the front row interrupts him. >"I can't accept that Mario is 1D. What about.." And yaks on for a solid 20 seconds. >Holcomb begins to respond. >Loudass interrupts him again >"But that doesn't make any sense" >Well maybe if you'd actually let him finish he'd explain it. >Holcomb tries to respond >"But what about Super Mario 64? That's a 3D map" >Holcomb gives up, tells us to work in groups on maps >Loudass follows him around the entire lab trying to engage him in conversation, so nobody gets any feedback on if they're doing it rong.

so many people do this, and it's annoying as shit. It tapers off after a while, but goddamn it's annoying. Do these people honestly not realize that everyone knows they don't have a real question, and are just trying to sound smart? "But professor, I have a question, if you did that thing, what would happen? Something like? [insert 30 minutes of answers as to what will happen, from the lecture notes, in order]" yeah, fuck off, nice 'question'. Freshman game designers are the fucking worst though. The worst ever was when I was in a class where ellinger gave this brief description of a game where you "fight evil" and someone engaged him for like 5 solid minutes challenging him to define evil. He finally got the guy to shut up so he could keep talking, and 10 minutes later this asshole's hand is in the air again. "Professor, I have the dictionary definition of 'evil' open on my phone right now, and" and this was a solid 10 minutes where he wouldn't stop to let anyone talk. He didn't have a question, he just wanted to lecture everyone with his semantic bullshit, and at the end there wasn't even a real response wanted to give because fucktard would just rob everyone of another half hour of our lives if anyone dared question why this line of conversation was even relevant fat tittysprinkles christ on a bike, don't be that guy

I might not be able to tell who CAD is because I (thank god) don't have GAT240 with bae3e3, but d3969e knows who CAD is and so would anyone else in the class, probably. There's a huge difference between "fuck all the

_ ___". Generalized negativity is cool, we all need to vent, but there is definitely a line.

>>612 I'm missing the part where there's "personally-identifiable information." Nobody's saying "that one douchebag with the
x hair" or "that fucker who always wears
y ." I fail to see anything wrong with recounting anecdotes from your time at DigiPen. I know I've done the same with fellow classmates and friends and family outside of school.
For example: I'm sure a large portion of my class remembers Pillow Kid, this idiot who (rightfully, but still) thought GAT 110 was too boring of a class for his tastes. But instead of sleeping at the back of class like a reasonable person, he saw fit to sit in the front row every day because of being a tryhard. One day, he brought a pillow to class, and then proceeded to sleep with the pillow, right in front of the whole class.
This is also the one who was responsible for roughly 90% of uncalled-for hand-raisings in GAT 210 and GAT 211. This kid was and is a total sack of shit. I'm pretty sure he's also the one who first started the GAT 211 trend of blurting questions out without raising his hand, as though the whole class was a dialogue with him and the professor. He legitimately made my time in those classes
actively miserable.
Is it wrong for me to recount these tales? I paid a lot of money for those classes, only to be distracted by this toolbox because he felt like he needed to draw attention to himself unnecessarily, on a constant basis. I'm not mentioning at all what he looks like or what his name is (I don't know his name, actually, I just know him as Pillow Kid); I'm just telling some stories of this fucker who ruined some very expensive classes for me.
I wrote the board rules (see red text at the top of every page) after your last post; perhaps I should update it to include wording saying that mentioning people in an overly-identifiable manner is wrong, also? I agree that if people start calling people out based on their appearance, that would be pretty bad. I read every post on this board (the mod panel provides a "new posts" page), so if anything uncouth comes up, I'll be sure to cut it immediately.

>>616 Honestly? I have no idea. It's really difficult to put a hard line on this kind of thing, so I guess you guys are just going to have to trust my judgement.
I mean, it's inevitable that someone is eventually going to post some straight-up dox at some point, because this is an anonymous message board on the Internet, but I'll do everything I can to mitigate that as soon as possible when it does. This is the price you pay for anonymity.
We had one issue early on where someone felt the need to reply using their real name (before I had the Name field disabled), and I had to go in and edit it out. We don't need that kind of crap here.
Apparently there's some way to set up an @8chan.co e-mail address for board owners; I'll figure out how that works and set up an e-mail address for people to send suggestions, private complaints, etc. to. I'll post a sticky about it once that's ready.

>>615 A direct quote from someone and the class they said it in is pretty identifiable. Even if you think it might not necessarily be, bear in mind that d3969e literally did ID CAD based just off of it.
Talking to friends outside DP and family is way different. There is literally 0 chance they can ID someone based off a description of what they did in class/around campus, so for all intents and purposes, the anonymity of the person being discussed is intact. My point is that if things like that were posted on Reddit or something, who gives a shit? The chance anyone reading it was actually there is incredibly low. Posted here, it's reasonably high. (as illustrated by the fact that it happened)
There's also a difference between things that are openly public and obviously going to be talked about like Pillow Kid bringing a pillow to class and sleeping in the front row, and things like CAD, where it seems like the guy wasn't trying to be a shitsack, and he sure as hell never called himself Creepy Anime Dude.
To me, that's the big difference. Your guy from 210 and 211 who makes everyone miserable and is a total shitsack? Okay, sure, he deserves the heat. Fuck that guy. CAD, someone who is likely legitmately autistic according to d3969e, getting the moniker CAD and getting insulted when it seems like he's just socially ignorant occasionally, rather than constantly selfish and shitty? That's another thing entirely. Like I said, that's middle school level shit right there. Obviously it's gray as fuck and the line is super blurry, but it's there.
What it "seems like" and how IDable shit is are really fucking important. I'm not going to tell you how to run your board, but imagine CAD or one of his buddies reading this, alerting him, and then summoning the white knights to come in. Shitstorm fucking central. Hell, imagine if one of those white knights pushed this beyond our walls? All anyone would ever hear was "DigiPen Students Anonymously Mock Autistic Classmate". NOBODY wants that shit to happen, Game School is enough of a fucking joke as it is.

In the Real World(tm) people like that do not always get a free pass, someone should call him out on it. Say "Look you are driving people crazy, slow down". My experience (only 3 test cases) with those kinds of people is they usually stop if they understand they are annoying people. It's worse for everyone to just say nothing and ignore them.
