Let's drop the old english. Don't be a dick to your teammates. Don't be afraid to pivot on your original ideas. Don't make games that look great but play like balls. Don't start with just a mechanic, or with just a story - consider both as equally as you can. Don't take what other people tell you as the "one true way" or anything like that. Don't be afraid to ask for help if it means you or your game will be better for it. Always consider the ROI on losing sleep. Chances are it's not worth it. Don't take this time for granted. "Real life" is much harder than this. If your playtesters all think that the same thing needs to be changed, then they're probably right. Don't be afraid to kill your "babies" in exchange for making something better. I'll say more later.
